Penix vs Nix on now

I just turned that on.

Agree with this, good QB, but plenty of question marks around him as well.

I think AF is the best team in that league lol. They have a great shot at the ny6. Huge win, Wyoming is pretty legit.

I love watching those style of offenses

Fwiw, in the interest of intellectual honesty I should mention that I just saw Coach Lanning on the news say that the field goal before half is the one he is going to look at and evaluate :man_shrugging:

He’s a good young coach though. Inspired hire by Mullins after Cristoball left them in a lurch (which was understandable considering the alma mater/elderly mom thing). His game management. Sh!t happens. He’s not an idiot. And he’s done a good job (much like Cristoball) in the community. Approachable and with some community involvement (Chip really being the only that was not that way).

One last thing. QB sprint/rollout goal line stuff is the most garbage sh!t ever. Just burn all those play calls. Everybody! Limiting your QB to completely across body throws OR more likely throwing it into a box 15 yards by 10 yards wide with 5 coverage bodies is all sorts of stupid.

Now on the other hand, faking the “OMG I can’t believe they’re dumb enough to run QB sprint/rollout sh!t on the goal line” and then throwing it across the body to the fullback or whatever sh!t receiving option completely opposite of the play is all kinds of awesome.

I hope MCDC was watching , and if the Lions are in that spot at any point this season we take the points and live to fight the 2nd half.

It’s basically a sprint and throw to the front of the pylon.

Just like a 1 step and throw the fade.

If you don’t throw it, plays basically dead

Which f’kn sucks. Like what kind of play is that?

When you roll out throw it to this guy. He should be open. But if not run it. But probably don’t bc our route design has flooded
five guys into the area you are running towards. So yeah just throw it out of the endzone.

Btw, Oregon’s primary flaw?

They don’t have a Royce Freeman type. They have that Charbonnet/Freeman type and they’d be a legit National Title contender.

The right side of that line? When Jones and Cornelius run duo stuff, they’re a problem. And Bucky is sick. He’s the lighting. They’re missed their Monty.

If it’s 2nd and goal, no time outs. You’re up against the clock then OK throw the fade or sprint right pylon throw.

Or if it’s the last play of game and you wanna give your best guy a 50-50 ball.

Or if Zach Wilson or Ridder is your QB…and you want the ball out of their hands.

Otherwise I hate that call too. Completely unnecessary in that spot. Especially when you got Bo Nix ballin

Good poInt. If you have a situation where you want three and if this is open for six or throw it out of bounds then sure. And that’s probably it. The type of play is a relic from a foregone era. We’re now about scoring touchdowns. Field goals are colossal failures. That’s just how the game is given how good the athletes are and how the game is officiated.

@CuriousHusker thought of u last night SNF

If there ever was a time to do a sprint right pylon throw , last night was it for Tyrod Taylor on that untimed down.

Or before half

Another team that didn’t get the FG before half that cost them.
