I wonder how many times Hutchinson got dinged for not winning a pass rush? Did the guy grading understand what a soft contain rush looks like and that it was designed that way? I’m betting he didn’t.

They aren’t supposed to be grading on that. At best they have moved those plays from a negative to neutral. It won’t be a positive unless he beats his guy, even if beating his guy means Fields beating us.

I think they have an interesting niche in what they provide and it can give a different perspective on what we thought we saw on Sunday. But its always crucial to understand what they are grading and what they are not grading. Sound football decisions where you sacrifice making a play to “do your job” and create opportunities for others is not graded positively.

I’d like to propose we make a ban on people complaining about the PFF scoring system in these threads every week. Some of us enjoy seeing the PFF scores and having a conversation about the scores. Doesn’t mean the scores are gospel, or even accurate, but every freakin week we have this same thread with the same people clicking on it just to come in and pee on everyone’s cheerios. Awesome you dont like PFF, but nobody cares. We don’t need people to announce it every single week. Maybe make your own PFF hate thread and complain in there? T

As for the grades - most seem accurate to me. Often times fans remember one splash play and that’s how they remember a player from a certain game. Like Okwara’s two hustle sacks. They were awesome plays, but the guy lost contain multiple times and was bullied in the run game. Fans will remember seeing a guy for a play, and then assign value for the entire game based on that. Similar situation to Ragnow. He seemed to play great but he got blown off the ball on that one play. But because that one play was obvious most fans afterward are all “Ragnow sucked.” But he didn’t, you’re just assigning value for his 60 snaps based on one play. It’s nice to have people to counter that. Doesn’t mean PFF is right or perfect or even good, but it’s a fun exercise in how you see guys playing

This would be a boring place if everybody agreed on everything or if everybody was told that they’re not allowed to disagree, like with the PFF grades in this case.

I don’t think he’s saying people shouldn’t disagree on the grades. I think he’s saying the reoccurring disclaimer that PFF is useless, isn’t necessary and probably not super helpful to any conversation.

Constructive example: I think the PFF grade of 30 for Not Porn is wrong because he seemed to be in position all game. He broke up that important pass, had a sack and two tackles for a loss (yes I know this is far-fetched)

Unconstructive example: I think the PFF grade of 30 for Not Porn sucks because PFF is stupid and the little Indians they hire never played football and don’t know what they’re doing

Also in regards to K-pop and BTS specifically, while not totally my thing I do give them a lot of credit for writing their own music. To my knowledge they don’t use ghostwriters like a lot of other pop stars do. Not taking anything away from other pop stars, it’s all entertainment, but I do respect them for being both artists and performers.
