I think I’ve said it a bunch on here that I love him as a motivator, but if he can’t get the game strategy, management stuff down it just won’t be enough.
It does not appear that he has grown in that role. It’s not looking good. At all.
“The Lions were playing without running back D’Andre Swift and wide receiver D.J. Chark and had leading receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown on a pitch count. So that context is important. But it’s far from a complete explanation of what happened Sunday as Jared Goff was pressured mercilessly and the Lions came up empty on all six (!) fourth-down tries, the most fourth-down failures by a team in a game since at least 1991.”
Oh…oh my. That is very very no-good. That is a dude just slinging reckless shit at the wall because he has no idea what to do when the poop hits the fan. That’s relieve the Captain of his command kind of stuff.
It was the first possession of the game that hand me on boiling points…on 4th and “inches” at his own 47, he goes for it. Like WTF are you doing? You are playing against a 3rd string, noodle arm, 7th round rookie quarterback. Punt the ****ing ball and make the kid go 90.
He showed he has learned nothing from his mistakes. A coach that is willing to go for 5-4th downs a game is doomed to get fired. There’s a reason nobody does this, because it’s ridiculous. This balls to wall attitude and coaching style is already tired. It doesn’t matter what the results are for me personally, I don’t want a coach who puts a piss poor defense in awful spots. He single handedly changes games with his decisions. He takes game opportunities right out of his players hands.
And a HC shouldn’t have to have a dork next to him telling him what decision to make. If he can’t make the smart football decision, he needs to go. It’s literally his only job on gameday.
