12 games of Porter to move from 45 to 95 in the 2028 draft.
Looks like we are back to waiting to the deadline and hoping beyond hope that a combination of Rakestraw/whiteside/abney/mcreary/rock ya sin can hold down one spot and that reed improves.
Good thing we have been getting pressure and our run defense seems ro be getting back to form.
Didnt think we would trade for him but that is certainly around the comp i was expecting the last few days.

So Joey Porter will continue his hold-in until Dallas shows him the money, right? What leverage do they have over him that the Steelers didn’t?
I suppose the deal may not go through until JPJ agrees to an extension. That would make sense, to my feverish mind at least.
we didn’t want him too damn bad, we had the time, fair opportunity , we had some cash and we did not move -I figured Joey Porter JR would end up in Dallas, Jerrah has funds, I did think Ben would go after Porter as well-but oh well this soap opera is over.
Dallas also sending a ‘27 6th rounder. As much as people here are gushing about this next draft that’s like the same as two normal 1st rounders. AMIRIGHT?

Can Brad just trade the number 1 pick in 2028 for Denzel Ward and have him be our #1 and Rakestraw #2? Move Reed to NB.

This regime has gotten too comfortable and Sheila needs to light a fire under their ass. Dallas didnt even give up a meaningful pick in the hyped up ‘27 draft class. Why are we worried about a pick 2 years from now? I hope Jerry’s paying him 33M+/yr. Otherwise it makes little sense to not outbid them unless BH has one helluva plan B up his sleeve.

If I’m Pittsburgh, I’m taking a '28 2nd + '27 6th Dallas deal over the same Detroit deal, as Dallas regularly has a higher draft pick than Detroit. Detroit would have to pony up a '28 1st or a '27 3rd to meaningfully tip the scales. Combined with the fact that Porter wants more money than he’s worth, I’m glad we’re not on the hook.

Well, I don’t think we would have gone after JPJ if Arnold were still here. And to be honest, I don’t think we’re much worse off with Arnold not being here. Let’s hope Rakestraw continues to develop and stays healthy. Who knows, maybe a competent CB will become available at the trade deadline for a 4th or 5th. Also, JPJ isn’t known as a run defender, and we know how this coaching staff loves CB’s who come up and tackle. They may have wanted him, but not really, really wanted him.

He also isn’t a great tackler.”
What a combination of skills! He’s basically TA without the tackling skills. We certainly need a #1 corner, but everyone seems to think any CB1 is an instant solution to the DB room. Glad Brad didn’t mortgage the future for an injury prone diva CB.
