Porter Jr to Dallas

You can take forever away from here, then return in the afterlife and people will still be defending this sackless GM and no Lombardi in the case. You can text me personally to vent. I feel like we’re in the minority that actually sees what’s happening here.

Wait i just realized cowboys still have to pay Pickens too lol, and that contract might be more then both Laporta and BB’c combined lol

I’m very disappointed. This was a move that I thought would really help us win at the highest level.

I love Holmes. The job he’s done turning this franchise around has been incredible. I’m starting to wonder if he’s capable of winning it all though.

I don’t want to be this guy but how long do we let Holmes rest on his laurels? Just asking.

Probably as long as his draft classes lean more 2021 than 2024. Probably the same for most GMs. I do get it. If you hit more on your draft picks than other GMs, why trade them away? Instead you should be more like Pitt and be trading people away for more picks.

That all said, this seems like it would have been a logical move. Price too high I guess.

Maharbal is best known for what he possibly[a] said during a conversation with Hannibal immediately following the Battle of Cannae. According to Livy, Maharbal strongly urged an immediate march on the city of Rome. Hannibal responded by saying “I commend your zeal, but I need time to weigh the plan which you propose.” Maharbal then replied, “Assuredly, no one man has been blessed with all God’s gifts. You, Hannibal, know how to gain a victory; you do not know how to use it.”

I never realized how many emotional women we have in the den!

Lol @ blaming fans for being part of the front office problems. “If you don’t agree with me then you are part of the problem” :man_facepalming:

I get that folks really want a Superbowl around here, but maybe, just maybe, folks are placing way too much of an emotional investment into a professional sports team (that, btw, doesn’t care about you, your opinions, or your loyalty). If this team is getting anyone so tangled up that it is creating rage, maybe it’s time to step back? Maybe (hopefully) there are more important things in your life that you could focus on instead of a bunch of grown men in tights pushing each other around a giant turf rectangle. If the more impotant focus is even younger men doing the same thing (most likely for a school you didn’t even attend), it may be time to get professional help.

Wasn’t shocked. Its a Detroit gm thing. When I hear any rumors about a Detroit team making a move I know it wont happen.

Dombrowski was the last GM in Detroit to have the balls to make a major move

I am mixed on the trade. I do feel like this was a lost opportunity, but I won’t let me feels get too out of line until I see what that next contract looks like. I had real reservations about paying a guy 30 million dollars who is feigning a back injury. What I did like is JPJ would have immediately become our #1 CB who can defend bigger WR’s, allows Reed to be a solid #2, then you still have Rock and Rake as first guys off the bench. We can still acheive this with a different trade, so not all hope is lost.

Dallas made this trade because they have lost all of their corners, and because Jerruh is more obsessed with being talked about than he is with team building. I love that the Cowboys let a guy with elite talent go, who also feigned a back injury, because Jerruh didn’t want to pay him. Then a year later, Jerruh still cant find anyone on Parsons caliber, now trades for JPJ who will also demand an extremely high salary, feigned a back injury and I’d argue JPJ is nowhere near the caliber of player that Parsons is. Parsons will be under 30 million for the next 3 years, so the Cowboys might end up having to spend even more for a CB than they would if they had just paid Parsons.

This thread is hilarious. The Den in a nutshell.

This smells like another one we will be talking about in a year or so, when Dallas pays him and he is just a guy. I just don’t see paying a guy 30 mill a year unless they shut down every teams number 1, every game.

Here’s an article how he ‘shut down’ Chase and Tee Higgins. He didn’t.

Let Jerry pay him.

It also helped that MI allowed it. Btw none of those prospects he traded amounted to nothing outside of Andrew Miller.

I don’t care that we didn’t trade for JPJ.

Zero emotional response.

I do care about my fellow humans that are losing their minds over this trade. Cell phones and algorithm-bubbles have wound up society soooo tight, and now this is our new ‘norm’ as a society.

Hyper-hyperbole and uncontrolled emotional responses

The internet is just full of ignorant (without knowledge) people yelling at experts in their field.

What’s hilarious is the same people react the same way everytime.

It blows up in the teams face that makes the trade 75% of the time but they’ll cite the 25% as proof it works.

And lack the awareness that they look crazy to reasonable people

I sit and wonder how many accounts some of these people have on this forum. To post this stuff and just send everyone in a tizzy. I mean look at some of these posts, wow. Some of you people are absolutely nuts!

Also, can we now put it to bed that Brad won’t trade for high priced free agents? Or are we gonna just keep on doing this

I’m enjoying this thread so far. But, I also like to recognize the voice of reason when it’s spoken.

I said before I would have offered a first for Porter and one of their third rounders. I am interested in knowing if Porter did pick Dallas over Detroit.

We had a one year rental on Carlton Davis.

But…but…his back injury!!

For sure. The gatekeeping Paul Blart Fan Cops will have your name on a list for implying Brad isn’t deity.
