Chiefs leading pass catcher whenever they have won anything has been a tight end he’s been out there everytime they’ve mattered

The rest of those teams of either have their guys healthy when it mattered or had a disappointing season and didn’t win shit.

If the Detroit Lions are depending on wide receiver 4-6 the season is over and we aren’t winning shit.

2025 Bills - Josh Palmer and Keon Coleman missed a combined 9 games.

2025 49ers - No Aiyuk for the entire season. Pearsall missed 8 games. George Kittle missed 6 games. They still won 12 games…

2025 Packers - Watson missed 7 games. Reed missed 10 games. Kraft missed 9 games. In fact, even their depth guys Golden and Wicks missed a combined 6 games…

All 3 teams still made the playoffs. This happens annually. Really weird stance to take here. Depth absolutely matters everywhere. We aren’t talking about the QB position where your statement holds true.

and you are right, because we have no depth, our season is over if our skills guys are out for any significant amount of time. Thats exactly what I’m saying here…….Doesn’t hold true for other contenders though.

Do you really think Dortch stops that from happening though? That having him suddenly keeps us from struggling when we have to dip into our depth? I don’t. Nor do I think Conklin does. Hell UDFAs were playing OVER him last year for the Chargers.

Keon Coleman and Josh Palmer ■■■■■■■ stink comparing them missing games to St. Brown and Jamo missing games made sense to you when you typed that out?

All 3 of those teams made the playoffs and didn’t matter because those guys were hurt which is my entire point

I don’t give a ■■■■ about making the playoffs and losing in the 1st round even if some how happens without Jamo and St.

We are passed the point of moral victory seasons

No dude it doesn’t. I’m saying that was the absolute bare minimum in the first place at replacing depth :man_facepalming:t2:

Dortch was a #4/5 on a bad Cardinals team. He’s now the #7 on a contending Bills team.

We got a little unlucky here with the injury to our rookie. But still nothing was done to rectify it.

Texans lose Jayden Higgins and they instantly trade for Kayshon Boutte. He cost very little yet has been a productive player in his short career.

It’s not apples to apples here…I’m just frustrated. I’m not going to come back and say haha! Told you so! I just wish more was done. Either at WR or RB. I hate the replacements if we have to go without Gibbs or Ra for a few games.

You just moved the goal posts twice in one post…impressive.

You asked me to find a team that survived having to rely on their 4-6 WRs…I did that. I didn’t know those teams had to have pro bowl level starters to qualify. But what about the other two teams i mentioned? Do they also not “count”

And the only thing that also was a qualifier was winning the SB?

I can see you are fun to have a discussion with.

edit

This isn’t about moral victories. Those teams still had a shot to win the SB. The packers receiving core were all back and healthy come playoff time. They lost Parsons virtually giving them no shot. But they survived the injuries to their receiving core. That was your entire point until you moved the goalposts. And who cares if the Bills top guys aren’t Ra and Jamo…they survived the injuries and there season wasn’t over. Neither team lost the SB because of injuries to their receivers. Which was your entire point…

I tend to be pretty critical of these types of decisions too. But in this case, with Gibbs, LaPorta, TeSlaa I think they have plenty of depth to weather short term injuries

Agreed. I think it’s an unnecessary risk to gamble at all 3 positions though. Thats all I’m saying.

Fair.

I think the lack of depth behind Gibbs is the biggest concern

I lived so long under the Curse of Bobby Layne that I’m fine with chillnig in the meantime and Dan mansplaining the seasons that fall short of the Super Bowl. I can see the day coming when we hoist the Super Bowl trophy, I know it’s a-coming…over the eons of time.

@JD9 isn’t wrong here. He might be overstating how terrible the depth is but when your #4WR is a complete unknown and all the backup rbs are either a washed up bandaid or unproven, it’s a valid concern. If St. Brown/Jamo or especially Gibbs are out for an extended period of time the Lions offense takes a significant step back IMO. You could say that about other teams as well but the Lions drop off to WR4 and RB2 is steeper than most teams. The running game in particular is a real concern IMO, they’re putting too much on Gibbs plate and behind an offensive line with its own questions.

I agreed from the top that it’s not a great situation, I just think it won’t have the impact on the season everyone thinks it will. Same reason I wasn’t overly worried when everyone was freaking out about our WR3. The level of worry >>>>>>> the actual level of impact.

Level of impact if no injuries take place, yeah.

They set themselves up for needing injury luck back in early March. Did very little to correct it since.

From my perspective if a team does not a have a realistic shot to win to the Superbowl their season is over.

We can have the best WR4 in the NFL but if our horses are out its over

Dontayvion Wicks is a starter for the Eagles and Darius Cooper and Elijah Moore are backups.

Here is the Rams depth chart:

Here’s what the Seahawks have:

The Niners:

Kansas City:

Cincy:

Is our depth chart worse than any of those teams?

If one is out, I disagree. Even with what we have this team could win the SB without one of Ra, Jamo, or LaPorta. It would be nice if we had an Antonio Williams or a Kayshon Boutte to step in…the drop off wouldn’t be as severe as a Lucky Jackson (who???)

If we lose multiple, the seasons over regardless of who’s replacing them. I agree with that.

I’ll Stop now. I think I’ve made my point and stance clear. I still love this teams chances at contending. Just don’t love the approach to replacing key depth pieces.

It won’t as long as they all stay healthy. Quite frankly the Lions have been fortunate to be largely healthy at the skill positions outside of LaPorta so you might say they’re due for a significant injury at some point. If Gibbs went down in the past we had Monty to carry the load, we have ….who now? The Lions without a good running game are in big trouble. Holmes needed to do better than Pacheco and a bunch of low pedigree unknowns at RB. WR4 is less of a concern than RB2 for me, that’s the big issue.

At just receiver…no. Those teams have similar weak depth. I do however like what some have done. Which is Basically my whole stance.

Rams make minor trade to bring back a guy who is familiar with the offense. He isn’t a star and it’s micro, but it’s a guy that’s contributed big moments to their offense. But they have Blake Corum and a loaded TE room. Their depth is significantly better.

I can do this with all those teams if you like haha…but overall, your point is made…I would’ve been upset at a couple of those as well. Not the eagles tho. I personally really like their depth at WR and RB.

I’m surprised you didn’t bring up then Colts. They have a fairly disgusting group of depth players as well.

This is all I’ve been trying to say this whole time lol.

You lose 2 of: WR1, WR2, RB1, RB2, TE1 for an extended period of time your season is over.

You lose 2 of your starting OL, season is over

You lose 2 of your top 5 DL, season is over,

You lose 2 of your starting LB, season is over

So i understand people’s concerns of depth. But again this is true for every team in the NFL.

But DBs? You could realistically lose 4 of your DBs for an extended period of time if the rest of the defense is healthy, youll be fine.
