PREDICTION: Denver Broncos vs. Detroit Lions

Me too.
I think we eventually have a “get right” game. I could see us losing big or winning big, I really have no read at all on this team right now.

I am watching NFL Matchup on ESPN…
and while previewing the Broncos-Lions game…
the host mentioned that Deteoit hasn’t played great pass defense in recent games.

Darius Butler and Greg Cosell gave a chuckle…
kind of giving a vibe of “that’s being polite”…

We did last week. Outside of a 4th down okay that shouldn’t have happened Well perhaps not “good” pass defense but certainly average and a massive step forward. Though the elements might have been a tailwind for the pass defenses

and… it was Fields.

He had 223 passing yards.

He has only 2 games of more than 225 yards on the season….
and only 5 in his 36 career games.

Detroits strength is the run game. Denver’s defensive weakness is the run game. Lions limit the turnovers and they should win.

Again, he had 38 of those on a play that never should have happened. (iMO)

I know what I see. Or at least think I do. And I saw a defense that was in the very least competent for the overwhelming majority of the game. I guess to be most accurate I saw a defense that struggled against Chicago’s scripted offense and in the last 1:40 but played well for the rest of the game.

I think the defense is showing some signs of improvement. Hopefully it carries forward.

The one encouraging sign to me last week was the pass rush. We hit Fields a ton. Unfortunately it didn’t lead to a win but that was a good sign.

Fields also only threw 1 pass in the final 9 minutes…
a rare occurrence for the Bears leading by 2 scores.

I agree with @stephenboyd57 and @CuriousHusker that there were some positive signs from the defense. The question now, will they continue to build off those positives tonight and the next three games?

I saw a few encouraging developments but that was no doubt the biggest.

I thought the difference in speed between Iffy and Tracy made a difference on the back end. I thought Jack continues his improved play outside of a rough first series or two. I even thought our coverage looked improve for large chunks of the game.

AA’s cast seemed like an issue. Hopefully he better learns to work around it.

I do think we’re close to arriving at a midpoint for the defense. Somewhere in between our early and midseason play.

I sure hope so. Gotta get after Russ early and often tonight. I hate that dude so much.

Jack Campbell was GREAT last week. Hope he keeps it up this week.

Not coincidentally, Cominsky had his best game of the year. He needs more of those. The entire DL needs Cominsky to have more of those.

Excluding kneels downs they had six offensive plays in that stretch. And in the two plays in which Chicago tried to throw the ball (one was called back be penalty) the defense did their job.

He got fooled bad on the first quarter Moore TD run but he’ll learn for it.

I do agree that he’s on the come for sure. Going to be a damn goo LBer before it’s all said and done.

Russ is the biggest Chad out there.

Idk how to feel about this game

im working tonight, so im missing the first half, and a lil of the 3rd sadly.

Do you realize that if we win tonight the board will request you not join games until the 3rd quarter?

It’s not personal. Desperate time, desperate measures.

That is kind of my point though…

Fields had one of his top passing games…
in windy conditions….
in less than 3.5 quarters.

208 of his 223 yards were in the first 3 quarters.

If Lions offense had scored any points in the 2nd half… Fields may have gone for 300 on the day.

Exactly… dude looked like a beast. Hopefully he takes the same pregame cocaine…I mean vitamins before tonight’s game :joy:

it would be the second time, Raiders game being the first this season lol
