My inclination is to root for the Vikings because the 49ers are the biggest threat to home field advantage and every 49ers loss helps.
What say you?

uh. no.
On the one hand this makes sense. We can beat the Vikes twice this (regular) season, SF only once.
On the other hand, we don’t want to jeopardize winning the division.
I says, root for the tie.
Tie is worst case scenario. That means both teams walk away without a loss, which helps them in the standings.
Root for the Vikings. They aren’t going to win a ton of games, let them have a little joy. Its early in the season, even a loss isn’t going to hurt the 49ers too much. The Christian McCaffery loss is the one that needs to be watched. Calf injuries can become longterm injuries pretty easily.
you gotta handle these things in order
division first
The thing about Prisco though, is that he’s an idiot.
LOL
I kinda wondered why we were sharing Prisco stories.
Vikings did beat them last year… Crazy shit happens in the nfl…can they both lose? I’ll be cheering for a tie and plenty of injuries
I dunno. When we beat the Bucs and the Vikes-49ers tie, we’ll be a half-game up on each of them. If one of them wins, we’re a game up on the loser, but only tied with the winner.
Looking at standings this early in the year is a waste of time. The best way to think about it is like this. The first tie breaker for teams getting into the playoffs is not the most wins. It’s the least losses. At the end of the year if the Lions are 11-6, and the Vikings are 10-5-1, The Vikings are over us in the standings due to less losses.
If the Lions win and we are 2-0, and the Vikings/9ers tie they will both be 1-0-1. Yes, technically we are ahead in the standings, but only because of how early in the year it is. Later on in the year is when it will come back to haunt teams. If we think about it in terms of the Lions are fighting the Vikings for the division, and fighting the 49ers for the conference, then both of those teams get an advantage on us if they didn’t lose.
There is no way we’ll loose the division to Sam Darnold so I’m going with the Vikes for seed 1.
But Mason was enough for the Jets so I dont see that happen.
Seriously. Why does he still have a job?
I hope it’s a Cosmo Kramer situation in which he’s not actually on the payroll but just hangs around the CBS sports office during work hours.
Priso picks
It was more the topic.
We can just as easily say that if the Lions are 13-4, while the Niners and Vikes are both 12-4-1 (instead of one being 13-4 and the other being 12-5), then the Lions win over both teams outright. Seeding is determined by who has the better winning percentage.
Wins are always better than ties, and in this case a tie prevents both MN and SF from getting a W. Both teams will subsequently need to win on a weekend the Lions lose to get ahead.
Agreed… Here’s what the Lions need to do… WIN and screw all the other teams
We will win the division - no worries there. Reality = SF’rz throttle the shit out of them. hope sf loses.
Man I sure hope the Lions aren’t underestimating the Vikes as much as some of you are.
As long as they remember who they are and give max effort…I don’t see us underestimating. I did feel they had an energetic lull during the Rams game though.
I expect both teams will play 17 games
