Project Hail Mary

Look …

I’m not typically hyperbolic about movies, because in the last 10 years, most movies, other than Top Gun Maverick and a few others, have sucked.

But Project Hail Mary is a masterpiece. It is the greatest movie I’ve ever watched, and it’s not really close.

Oh, I really need to see this. I’m a bit of a Gosling fanboy, but I keep forgetting to see this.

I read the book. I am setting up to be disappointed but hope I am wrong based on the positive reviews.

I loved the book and I thought the movie was fantastic. Just a great time all the way through. Gosling was amazing.

it’s fantastic. the book is great and the movie is incredibly faithful to the book, which is surprising considering even tho the movie is 2.5 hours long it’s able to cover everything.

I do think both this and the martian would be excellent as an 8 episode streaming series. there is a lot of nuance that could be hit in a series you just can’t do with a movie.

I thought the martian movie was just too rushed, good, but rushed.

I hope you’re right. The Martian wasn’t nearly as faithful to the book as I hoped it would be, they dumbed it way down. It was still entertaining in the end, but hard not to be disappointed when you’ve got something as good as the book to compare it to.

But I’ve heard good things about how true they’ve stayed to the book on this one, so I’ve got my fingers crossed.

it’s much more faithful than the martian. if you liked the book you’ll like this.

I’m pretty excited to see it. I’ll also say that the time between reading the book and watching the movie is a lot longer this time. I think I read the Martian maybe a year before the movie came out. This time it’s been a lot longer, I read Project Hail Mary right when it dropped, so some of the details are probably a little hazier by now. I intend to re-read it, but decided to wait until after I watched the movie.

I loved it too, brother! SO good!

Rocky was awesome.

Still haven’t read the book, but it’s better than the movie, I’m all in.

So far, my biggest discrepancy between a book and a movie was Starship Troopers. Book was AWESOME! Movie was solid.

yeah I’m going to see it , probably today, will be searching the showtimes and getting around.

OK, after the film> I liked the story and the acting, all of it but thought they could-have ended it a little better, kind of the same , just a more dramatic way he got back to earth and how he nearly died but was rescued and the little rock guy could-have still had spread.

I thought the way they kept centering around him not making it back—that they could-have made the ending more dramatic, like he barely survived-but hey.

Yep - definitely worth the watch.

loved starship troopers, both book and movie although vastly different things. the boardgame is …complicated.

I would say that hail mary is probably the first movie I’ve seen that is SUPER close to the book.
