I don’t see where it’s any different than someone hiring me to remodel a bathroom for a negotiated price and then changing that price after I started the job? You think I’m just going to keep working?
It’s no different than signing a free agent.
There are plenty of free agents who don’t earn it after signing the contract but you have to sign them to the contract first to land them.
It’s a professional landscape essentially, these kids are free agents.
Thats different. There is salary cap in the nfl, and can be cut anytime. Yes the player can still make money . I dont mind if a kid makes money on his imagine, but 4 star rb from ohio transfers 3 times how does that make sense. And if you pay tv revenue for each kid, there will be a point everything will be pay preview. Nil helps the rich more and kills the poors even more.
It’s called a change order…lol
Nope - this stuff was ENTIRELY predictable. Should have simply said NO. This is college athletics. Yes we make a lot of money, but YOU get a free education, THAT is the bargain and when you are a pro, you can go make big dollars, in no small part due to the exposure that our football program provided you.
They caved and opened this huge can of worms where the star player is getting life changing money and the guy that does the dirty work and blocks for the star is eating cheerios. At 19 years old and that level of maturity. This is not in any way the same paradigm of the NFL QB making Goff money and JRM making JRM money. They aren’t 19.
The rest of the story…
I think you and I agree on this, is the point I was trying to make.
All good. I’m just not blaming any of the players for the strife created by the policy change. It was inevitable that it was going to cause strife and the folks in charge should have known better. You do what you do when kids whine. (Or should). You tell them no (and quit pouting!) Damn clouds!!!
See now, if true, this makes the kid look bad… people will defend you if you didnt get what was agreed to. The minute that you argue you deserve more… oh boy… 3 games in and he is saying “i am worth more than that so i am sitting” what if he was struggling would he have given it back? Crickets
In a way, it makes sense.
Sluka knows he has no future in the NFL. He’s a dime a dozen running QB who, as a passer, has basically been a Mike McMahon-Rusty Hilger this season–only completing 43.8% of his passes:
As a 5th year senior, Sluka knows he needs to get his money now.
But will this move get him money?
He has one year of eligibility left and decides to redshirt to get his money elsewhere next season. Be interesting to see if another school pays him. There’s always one…
Why should the kids not get paid ?
Coach is probably making min $250 a year to coach football.
I will make the same commenr i make when people complain about what nfl players make…
The league and teams make a lot of money, why dont you want it going to the players vs a select few billion dollar institutions etc?
There is no reality where this money is going to go to increase wages for teachers, military, or any other non entertainment based profession so why do you care if the kids/players get a piece of the pie that they help to generate?
Ah, so his pro football ceiling is a practice squad QB who you sign because your defense faces Lamar Jackson or Jalen Hurts twice a year.
If that’s true then ■■■■ him.
No one is
Asking teams pay these kids anything
You seem to have a problem that the college money people making bad decisions. Kind of like the old Lions GMs for decades.
Just read he was told he would receive 100k….so far he’s received 3k. Seems like we definitely need to wait and see where the truth is on this one.
Never thought I’d see Rusty Hilger name-dropped on this board. That takes me back.
I see a person selfishly jumping ship from one team to another for more money… his love for money is more important than loyalty to others…. And it nullified all commitments as crappy
His committed to one school and dumped them for another…. Too bad for the new outcome….
Be humble and thankful for what you got ….
