QB2 - How you guys feeling?

Alternator seems to have a lot of upside, but most of us question his ability to immediately produce

As is the case with most teams, I think of our starter goes down… We might be in trouble

That said, how do you see him as part of the future plans/not part of the future plans?

How do you see him, as compared to other back up NFL QBs?

Can we go two and one, or so (2-2?)in a stretch… If he has to come out and play

I feel as great about backup QB as if we had most other backup QB. Basically if your highest paid player misses the game/season, your focked. However many games, and season aspirations. 80’s jordan 2020’s Cade, Ladanian T, basically any of those guys whose presence is irreplaceable.

Tony Romo was undrafted in 2003, began his career as a third stringer, didn’t become the number two until 2006. He didn’t even pick up his first DUI until mid-2026.

Best I’ve felt about QB2 ever as a Lion’s fan, that’s only if it’s actually alternator though & not Dobbs

Thank you for leaving, Teddy. We wouldn’t have done it without your awareness that The End was near and appropriate. Not everyone knows when they’re cooked.

I wanted to keep Dobbs the last time he was here. I like Josh and Luke.

Josh has good mid range accuracy. Don’t ask him to throw a long ball and you won’t be disappointed. His legs give you other options, but, as a game day QB, it will take away from the Waymo “threat”.

That’s the biggest downside with Josh. You can still win with him, but, you lose the long ball, and, trade it for run ability.

If Luke develops the way I expect, he will be the ideal “system” backup, and, possible protege’.

What was that old Tom Moore quote about Payton Manning… “If 18 goes down, we’re f’d. And we don’t practice f’d.”

It’s kind of like that - we just need to patch the hole for a couple of series (or games). Beyond that, you’re in trouble!

If Goff were to go to IR, long term, you play Luke and see what you have.

Offense is good enough to function with Dobbs as QB if needed for a short period of time… I never expect anything better than .500 with a backup QB. We’ve won games with Goff turning the ball over 4, 5, even 6 times… The team is good enough to do that… Sometimes…

Well he’s no Chase Daniels but really, who is?

I liked him coming out of Eastern Illinois, we were in the same conference so I had plenty of chances to see him. 10 years prior a guy named Kurt Warner went undrafted out of the same conference.

We’re good at backup QB.

We’re a lot better than the Boyle/Blough/Sudfeld days.

Much worse than last year

How am I feeling - OK. I like Dobbs as a 2. He’s not going to light the world on fire, but he seems smart, reliable, mobile. Definately can win a game or two behind him. What you want in a 2. I think he sticks around if Goff and Brunell find him valuable.
