Red Wings 2nd Half Thread

I was hoping we would make 2 solid moves.

I’m still hoping we make two solid moves.

I mean, the bottom six has been pretty atrocious. DP has played like 40 some games and is now the 6th leading goal-scorer on the Wings. It’s not a lot…but it’s not nothing either.

Please, just let me be salty for an hour.

I’m just playing Devil’s advocate here. He’s got playoff experience, he’s won a cup, he provides leadership and depth in an area the Wings could definitely improve.

Does it move the needle? Not a ton, but you need guys like this in the bottom six during the playoffs, honestly.

It’s my own fault. I do it to myself every damn time in every sport.

I start dreaming about how good we will be with this guy and that guy, knowing full well the chances of getting them are slim, and then feel let down.

im an idiot GIF

Of note on David Perron: he’s been out with a sports hernia since Jan. 20th, so the conditions on this deal essentially guarantee that the pick only moves if he actually gets healthy and plays for the Red Wings.

Right, if he DOES play, he won’t just be a “jersey” on the ice. Which moves the needle slightly in the right direction

For now though, based upon what Bols just shared he is a jersey off the ice

Isn’t enough.

He’s in Week 6 of a 5-7 week recovery, so shouldn’t be too much longer.

I mean, if we look at the guys in the bottom six he’s replacing:

Elmer, Leonard, Shine, MBN have played 60 combined games for 4 goals, 4 assists and -11. Perron has 10 goals, 15 assists and is +2 in 49 games.

It might not move the needle at the top of the lineup or on defense, but it’s a huge upgrade for the bottom 6. Even with only playing 49 games he ranks 6th in goals on the Wings and tied for 7th in points. For basically nothing.

I know but like you, few others and myself. Really needed to upgrade that 2nd line. Plus he is going to rusty coming back from surgery. This cant be the only move

It might be if prices stay the way they are. I mean, ffs, Nicolas Roy was just traded to the Avs and it cost the Avs a 1st and a 5th.

Roy is 29 and has 5 goals and 20 points this season. The most points he’s ever had in a season is 41. And he’s only been over 31 points in 2 of the 6 six seasons he’s played (186 points in 428 games). It’s stupid out there. There hasn’t been a trade yet that I’ve though the team receiving the player has won.

I’m taking matters into my own hands. My Indian trade dance works every single time…

lol wtf

All I ask, is do not trade Carter Bear, any of our other prospects I’d be fine with being a part of a package

If we can get a lot from say a Nate Danielson, do it. He just looks like another JT Compher/Andrew Copp anyways

Bear has a minimum of 2 more years before being a good NHL player. He is just so young. Not waiting until 2030.
