Red Wings 2nd Half Thread

It’s 2026, plus two years = 2028, not 2030. Come on spreadsheet guy!

Red Wings still apparently in on Vincent Trocheck. Wild backing out. Carolina and Boston also interested.

Wings should stand pat. They’re nowhere near close enough to go all the way just by getting a guy on a trade that compromises the future.

I disagree, though I understand the sentiment. I really think they need to make a trade in order to ensure they make the playoffs. The “turning of the corner” I think at this point in time will set them up for more success down the road than another failed season being on the outside looking in. I’m thinking locker room morale would be devastated if they don’t make it this year. Which would be more harmful than having another Nate Danielson type of draft pick down the road.

I think I’ve been one of the most patient people on this ride as well, but it does seem like it’s time

Yayyy another Det pro sports team trade deadline day where nothing happens, which will lead to a fanbase with these again…if ya cant get some help on the blue line, may as well get some:

I would love to just have one of our teams be a go getter. Even if it completely failed just to teach people like me why that’s supposedly a bad idea first hand.

But too often we seem to fail in this town due to a lack of action. Not the other way around.

This is the correct answer. If a trade doesn’t land someone who is going to be a part of the team for the next 5-6 years, you don’t give up assets. (Little stupid assets for Perron are whatever) The Wings are not in a cup window and more fans needs to understand that.

Alternatively, the GMs make big deals, lose valuable assets and then we’re in the same spot with less assets. But hey, at least we “did something”.

And no, the fans upset about any of the GMs not doing anything will not support the GM when the trade doesn’t work out and the team is in a worse position. They’ll conveniently forget they were banging the drums to make a trade and call the GM an idiot and call for his head. “No, I didn’t want THAT trade - I wanted the fantasy trade I made up in my head and if we did that trade that was never available to the actual GM of the team, we would’ve won __ championship!” It’s a tale as old as time.

Hell still be with the WHL in 2026-2027

Then minimum of 1 full year with GR in 2027-2028

Hell be a two way fill in player in 2028-2029

Then FINALLY be a full time player in 2029-2030 and hell need time to be effective.

Hell be a very good player in 2030-2031.

Thats why i hate all the slappys talking about keeping the super young guys or draft picks. Im sorry those guys wont be a GOOD NHL player for 3-5 more years. Im not worrying about 2030+ im worried about 2026-2030. When its already been 13 years since the Wings have been relevant.

Damn I thought there might have been some news.

Well, John Carlson of the Capitals got traded to Anaheim for a 1st round pick

a 36 year old in the last year of his deal

This market is ■■■■■■ im ngl

Every single one of us would be screaming if Yzerman made that trade.

I want to add a difference maker but I don’t want to get ripped off either.

No deal is better than a bad deal.

I have to think prices might fall a little in the last couple of hours. Some teams need to sell. They’ve been really high so far.
