Steve didnt want to give up the kids.
Aka Daniels, Kasper etc
Id rather give up on the draft picks than the current prospects

Much preferable to Faulk, for sure. Especially because it’s highly likely Hughes would want to stick around after.

Well the draft pick, I assume, has to be used this summer, so it would just turn into another prospect.
So if you’re saying we should’ve waited to trade that prospect in a couple of years, then I would say that we have plenty of other prospects we could trade in a couple of years.
I don’t hate the deal. I just hate inflated TDL prices. Again, the Wings aren’t making a run, so I don’t understand the urgency. I suppose Steve felt like he had to reward the guys on the team for playing well this season, but to me, there are much better times and ways to use assets.
Player acquisition costs considerably less any other time of year. I just hate the value. TDL deals are ass.
It seams like more decent players move at the deadline tho.
And I think he would still be a first + to trade for in the offseason.
Also NHL Fa is after the draft. So still the same ammo for this offseason
Especially because his contract is up after next season. Are we cup contenders in 2027? I doubt it…maybe if he had a 3rd & 4th year at his price I would like it more. Maybe he loves it here and prefers to stay instead of moving yet again in his mid 30s
I didn’t want to give up any of the prospects that are currently down so I guess it’s a partial win.
Right, but they’re good trade chips to have…
Solid Righty, can play the PP, PK and is a puck hawk
AND BUCHELNIKOV? OH ■■■■ NO
Yeah, this trade can eat a dick
Yea now its a bit steep.
First and a good prospect is a bit much
That’s a hilarious trade. Should’ve just given up what it would’ve taken to get Hughes
On the flip side, we no longer have to navigate getting him over to the US. Maybe that was a factor. I still hate it.
I didn’t even see that he was part of the trade.
I had really high hopes for him.
Dude, he wouldn’t have been ready until 2030, who cares, amirite
It was the first I’ve seen that he was added in. What a ■■■■■■■ poopy trade for mid 30s defenseman with only 1.5 years of term just to go out in the first or second round the next couple years.
I hate this so much.
It turns out that it has been a seller’s market at the deadline. Some teams giving up multiple picks for 3rd or 4th liners. !st and 3rd picks for a rental d-man by other teams. The price paid was high but it what the going market seemed to be.
The key is that Faulk can play with Chariot on the 2nd pair and eat a lot of minutes. Couple this with Ed and Mo taking the most minutes on the first pair and that means that ASP and AJ can play the 3rd group and both of these players are still young and developing.
So I think it’s a good pickup as the Wings should be better defensively and with Gibson back in net, it will be a tougher team to score on. Perron also could help on the second PP unit providing he gets healthy.
Get the win tonight. It will be big with a 4 game road trip coming up.
Guys be clutching their pearls around here.
