It’d be nice, but unless it’s a real game changer with term like Robert Thomas or Weegar, I’m fine with a stop-gap that doesn’t cost much to play on the second pairing D to kind of shelter ASP in the playoffs a bit.
I just don’t know if anyone is gonna move a big piece to us and Yzerman be willing to give it up. The only way I’d be upset is finding out we could’ve had Thomas for like a Danielson, Goalie, a first, and Wallinder type package and Steve didn’t make a move on it.
I appreciate the patience by most of the Detroit GMs front offices. I think it’s too early for the Wings to be blowing their load unless it’s a guy who’s like 26 or younger who will be around for the next 6 years at a high level.
All I’m saying is that if you’re serious about being a good team, and you think you have the balls to call out your GM who was a former captain of the team that you played for and is one of the most iconic sports faces in the city, maybe try not being -15 after the all star break and having more than 10 or 11 even strength points in 27 games when it matters.
I think we would. The problem is the Blues asking price. The Sabres were apparently offering more and couldn’t close the deal last night when everyone said it was close. Reports are that trading between the lines, the Blues wanted Owen Power in return. They’ve said all along they want an NHL-ready caliber young star +++ and so far that’s held true from what I’ve read. The Blues have little incentive to move Thomas if it’s not for a kings ransom.
I’d give them any two of Danielson, Bear, MBN; either Cossa or Augustine; and a 1st and I’m still not sure they’d bite.
