Red wings offseason

My take wings need a true number one center. Wings need a number one pair one defense. Wings need a 2nd blue liner as well. My concerns with FA do players really want to put wing on. Its been bad for 10 plus years. Trades might be Yzerman only move without over spending

Well maybe I’m delusional, I think he’s a great player.

That’s your right. As a Leafs fan, I can say he’s one of my least favorite players ever. This whole current group I’m not a big fan of. I like heart and soul players that put everything on the line. Like Brad Marchand.

I think the same way. The playoffs are a different animal.

But I still wouldn’t be opposed to the Wings signing Marner, so long as they added more grit this offseason as well.

Toronto is the world capital for the sport and being a hometown kid is a ton a pressure when you’re talking about a franchise that has sucked for half a century. A change of scenery sending him to a team with a recent history of Stanley Cup success might be just what he needs to break through in the postseason.

I’ve enjoyed less talented teams more than this one. Go down biting kneecaps and I can enjoy it. This rich entitled spoiled brat country club routine, I can do without.

I am not a Leaf’s fan so odds are great you know more about them than I do. When I watch them in big games the guy that I really like, but disappoints me a lot more than Marner is Matthews.

Trade for Evander Kane, he might be available. Can play on any line and plays heavy body hockey. Lots of people hate him, but he does add plus value as a player on the ice

Wings fans hate Chariot, but he’s the first one to bite kneecaps

Larkin sometimes acts Country Club

Matthews is an interesting character. I don’t think his body is holding up. He’s had an enormous amount of issues with his wrists. He’s had surgery already prior but had the 69 goal season after that. He’s gotten much more physical in the last year or 2 but if he loses the shot then he’s not worth the contract. He has 3 Rocket trophies and a Hart trophy and 35 lbs and he plays center over Marner, to go with 2 60 goal seasons. But somehow Marner thinks he deserves the same contract.

Market at the end of the day dictates contract though.

Everyone thinks they’re worth X, Y, or Z. If the market pays you max amount, that’s what the market/team thinks you’re worth

If I want to get paid top dollar to bag groceries and no one offers it to me, then I wasn’t worth it. If they decide to pay me that rate, turns out maybe I was

If Marner want to come to Detroit and rejuvenate his career he might temper his expectations a little bit. That might actually be what makes him a good signing. If he’s just looking to max out his earnings, fine. Detroit is not a short term contender though, so maybe it won’t work out…

Problem is we need a Goalie. Which is kind of like NFL QB’s. They don’t grow on trees. Our maybe goalie is still at Michigan State, who knows when he’ll be ready

Kasper??

IMO hasnt proved himself enough to be worth anything. Like currently what is he projected as? Mid6 forward. Thats not THAT special.

He just turned old enough to drink beer. The last quarter of the season no one else drove play more than him and at Worlds, the path he is headed down is line 1 guy. Especially if we’re going off of projections

He very well could be. I guess put him in the ā€œonly if the return is greatā€ category.

I think you’re severely underrating Kasper. He was arguably the best C on the team since the all-star break. He was second in goals scored (10) to Cat, fifth on the team in total scoring (and only 3 points behind Larkin) had the highest +/- rating on the team at +8 - and did this all during his rookie season when everyone else seemed to be packing it in. He needs to work on his faceoffs, but it was noticeable on the ice that he was one of their best players. Is he going to be a Raymond-level talent? Maybe not, but I think he’s got a chance to be better or at least as good as Larkin, who I think is an actual 2C.

He MIGHT become a first like center. But until i see more. Hes a 2nd liner. In other words not worth holding on to if a good trade offer is made.

Copp: 1 Point per 35 min TOI
Kasper: 1 point per 32 min TOI.

1 point per UNDER 20 TOI is what Playoff 1st line centers typically play at.

Larkin is 1 point per 24 min TOI

Could he get there sure. But could he just end up as Larkin 2.0? Yea he could.

Well july 1st is getting close Yzerman still hasn’t made a trade. Get rid of pick 13
