Report: Bears have 4 head coach candidates on their shortlist

I expect Flores and Vrabel to be on most lists and curious to see what impact losing Flores has on the Vikings. Granted similar to what impact losing Ben and Aaron will have on Detroit.

The Bears are all but guaranteed to go with a young offensive guru type HC.

But there is also zero chance in my mind that Ben is one of the people they claim are talking behind the scenes. Not his style. And I just don’t see Ben going there, period. Coach and QB graveyard, shitty field in the cold etc., crappy OL, having to go up against MCDC twice a year.

I expect him to go to a more established team for his first HC gig. Why set himself up for self-destruction? He’s not the culture changing rah rah type. He’s quiet and analytical. He’ll go somewhere that will set him up for success. That’s definitely not Chicago.

From their 4, this is how I see it.

Ben Johnson: He is the guy they want most.

Joe Brady: He is the second option if they don’t get Ben.

Mike Vrabel: He did a good job in Tennessee, but he is a defensive head coach. Vrabel got into it with the owner in Tennessee, and basically criticized the organization for not being the Patriots. Chicago’s ownership is much more dysfunctional, so this could be a bad fit.

Brian Flores: Bears fired Matt Eberflus, a defensive head coach who could not help develop a quarterback and would now be replacing him with a defensive head coach who could not help develop Tua? This move makes the least amount of sense, which means that Brian Flores is the real front runner.

I think the bears should go for our old career backup kellen moore because i highly doubt ben would take it

They should hire Vrabel and get out of the way. Not that I want them to do that of course.

There’s no way they go with Flores. They have put everything in the Caleb Fields….i mean Williams basket. Would be shocking if they don’t go with an offensive minded HC.

It is funny that you can basically say Caleb Fields, or Justin Williams and their names are as interchangable as their career paths.

They have said they want a “leader of men” before anytning. Offensive or defensive coach? Apparently it does not matter as they want a leader.

Whatever leader it is will have to take on Caleb Williams.

I’m to say either Vrabel or Brady. I wouldn’t rule out ND’s Marcus Freenman either

Bears should hire jim harbaugh… oh yeh they are a year late on that one.

If this chucklehead has legitimately gotten ahold of their list of options, it tells me everything I need to know about their front office. It should tell Ben too.

If that’s the list it is my strong preference that they hire Joe Brady.

My preference is for Brady or Flores, but I strongly believe their ownership and FO will mess it up no matter who they hire.

Flores is a good coach. But I would like to get him out of Minny.

He is but I can’t see his abrasive style working long-term (see Tua comments). Plus the league office will hate it and none of the calls will go their way.

Ben Johnson not going to the bears confirmed. Glad we got that settled. Hire Joe Brady.

They can talk to his agent freely… ask questions and the like

Flores is a great HC imo, but considering what weve seen from Miami and the Culture… he needs to actually like and trust his QB and FO to do it

I think if Mayo is gone after 1 year, i believe Flores is in line for the Patriots HC job, mainly cause i think he might have alot of power in that building, same with Vrabel
