Roger McCreary is a Lion

I’m thinking statically and logically. What support do you want from me? You want it, because you know I don’t have it. Is it a sound plan, as a floor that you are suggesting, to rely on a career backup tackle to be your worst case scenario starter? He’s had plenty of starts in his career in Chicago, why was he never looked at as a starter? He had a 10 game run in Miami that was 35th among qualified tackles last year according to pff. lol so what? How many qualified? That doesn’t mean he’s the 35th best tackle. Who knows how many better didn’t qualify. So to this point his ceiling, or best case scenario, is middle of the road? Because that’s what’s he’s shown…

Chances of Borom figuring it and becoming a legit stater are still very low. There’s nothin that suggest or supports your side aside from that run last year. And you want to suggest that’s a good gamble as a floor? Thats crazy to me…

Ok well you had me fooled lol

No chance Love falls that far, of course. Sadiq could be there, though. And that would definitely send the board into meltdown.

Well I don’t think Freeling at 6 is really a reach. If he was available to us I’d love to take him.

But I still have him behind Mauigoa. That guy would solve all of our problems immediately. I just happen to believe he’s going 3 to Arizona. If he fell to Cleveland that might push Freeling down the board for sure.

Would I take Freeling over Bain or Downs? No I would not (depending on Downs’s medicals of course). I have Styles ranked higher too, and he would be such a perfect solution for us at WILL, I’d take him too.

But again, it’s possible all of those guys are gone by the time Cleveland picks.

This is so often the problem on here. In an attempt to engage in nuanced conversation, I end up taking the devil’s advocate side because I think you guys are too far in one direction. On another board, I might argue the exact opposite point. Like if someone thought Borom was hands down the solution and we were done at T, I would be calling them crazy.

But NO ONE on here has said that.

I think he goes earlier too

I loved that signing. Nobody has issues with Izien.

Conflict sells. And the conflict reside in the trenches and whether we’ve done enough.

I feel better about our OL right now than our DL. For instance, what’s the plan to get us back to our prior run stopping standard?

Just draft McCoy and figure out the rest later.

I think too much was made of Petzing and 12 and 13 personnel, but what if the plan was Borom with very frequent TE help.

From the little I’ve read he has a Dan Campbell mindset for sure. He’s a lions kinda player. The Knock is that he may not be ready right away. He looks to have the skill set and nasty attitude.

A case could be made for Sadiq. How much do you want to pay LaPorta to keep him here? If Sadiq hits you can move LaPorta at the deadline just like the last TE we had.

You know I love him, but I can pretty much guarantee at this point our FO won’t. I’ve had to wean myself.

Hypothetical::

If you knew that Borom would play as a top 35 OT on PFF as he did as a starter in ‘25 would that be good enough?

I think Sam is a Lion through and through. Tough as nails. We missed him terribly last year and we don’t even mention it. Someone here said they ran into him at a restaurant and he said he was going to be 100%. I don’t think they want to trade him if he’s healthy. But this is the new Brad, and all bets are off now on moving on from vets.

Personality?

Maybe, but one area I really look at to see if they check the “loves football” box is whether or not they played in their bowl game. Brad has only ever drafted one player who skipped his (Vaki). And Iheanachor opted out. Not that it takes him off our board or anything, just that he’s not gonna get that check in the pros column that I suspect puts the guys we love over the top.

The funny thing, and you know this, is I’m not even that far off on how you view it lol.

I’m gonna say it again just because lol, but I don’t think any big time prospect has any shot to get to us aside from Caleb Downs. So it boils down for me, would I take a OT over Caleb Downs? I just don’t know…if we had signed Braxton Jones + Borom, easy…I’ll take Caleb Downs. If we retained Decker, Caleb Downs…Decker is a warrior and I think he has a significantly higher floor than Borom. I would hope this would also include a trade up to get the future OT they want, but I would be ok with passing @1717.

I would even struggle if we add no one and Downs falls to us. And if we do take him, I understand and there will be no complaints for me. If we do pass on OT with our 2nd rounder I might lose it. Borom alone is not the answer. It would signal pure arrogance from our GM plain and simple. He thinks he identified a star in Manu and he has shown nothing. It would signal he would think Manu/Borom solves the Oline issue. And that’s what I am most worried about here…

You do a great job at it man. It’s a message board we are supposed to have conversations here, what else would be doing? Work lol I’m over working right now.

I envision me, you, @CuriousHusker , and @JD9 sitting at bar for the past 2 hours drinking beers and having this conversation going back n forth…

…and the bartender leaning in and saying, “aren’t you retards all saying the same thing just in different ways?”

Yah but we are boys, and we are drinking, what else are we gonna do for the next 2 hours besides argue about Borom and watch U of M bball while we drink these beers :clinking_beer_mugs:

I like LaPorta but the injuries are becoming regular. Our biggest problem is not having enough talent but having talented players available to play.

IF we drafted a round 1 or 2 rookie as well then yes. Being strictly results oriented is pretty dumb. I think I’ve been clear on this and that’s my issue. The plan would be really bad, it just happened to work out.
