Scott Adams on News Radio

Quite possibly, my favorite sitcom of all time. Scott Adams and Joe Rogan? Man, time flies. Andy Dick was always hilarious.

it’s a shame he fell off like he did. still be around had he not bought into the ivermectin stuff.

my favorite andy dick appearance (before he also instigated the issue that got hartman killed) was on star trek voyager as a different emergency medical hologram. the chemistry between him and picardo was pretty good in that.

May he rest in peace.

Was one of my favorites…

Was that the first thing he tried for his cancer? Echoes of Steve Jobs effectively committing suicide by pursuing holistic care over surgery for an operable tumor. In Adams’ case though it sounds like his cancer was already incurable at diagnosis.

I always appreciated how he took on the absurdities of work. Making a cat the HR director because cats like to torture their prey before killing them was brilliant. RIP Scott.

Yea, sadly.

I did enjoy his comic. That, bloom county, calvin & hobbes, great stuff.

Exactly… Some people don’t like those pesky facts getting in the way of their narrative though

Well, he probably would have lived longer if he had gotten actual cancer care instead of snake oil. Ivermectin isn’t doing shit to cancer.

To each their own… Incurable cancer… Would you bombard yourself with chemo and radiation and destroy your body, knowing it’s incurable, for the last year of your life? Or try something that also won’t work, but won’t turn your body into the walking dead?

For me, personally, I wouldn’t go the “traditional” route… I’ve seen too many friends and family go through that treatment, see what they turn into, all just to die anyway. Give me a dignified, quick death in that case :man_shrugging:

And I didn’t know they gave out nobel prizes for “snake oil”

prostate cancer isn’t incurable. I have a friend who is fine after his treatment over 5 years ago.

you do, however, have to treat it appropriately and in a timely fashion.

His diagnosis was stage 4, after it already spread into his bones… Incurable… They gave him like 3-6 months… He lasted 8

that sucks. I’d be curious if he had went in full speed with normal treatment how much longer he’d have lived, but then you have quality of life issues.

■■■■ cancer. it’s some BS.

There are a couple of his collection books where he gives some “inside baseball” on many of the comics he drew. Those are really funny.

Some of my faves from Dilbert:

That’s the balance with late stage cancer, quality of life versus quantity. Adams was trying to get access to an experimental treatment last November, so I think he did want to see if he could live longer. With him passing only a couple of months later it probably wouldn’t have made a difference.

And yes, anyone telling you to use ivermectin to treat cancer is a â– â– â– â– â– â– â–  snake oil salesman. Ivermectin has legitimate medical uses but this was not one of them. I feel bad for Adams because he wanted to fight his cancer and he fell into the voodoo BS about how evil oncologists only care about selling chemo.

This is conjecture, unless you heard him say this. I suspect he didn’t want to destroy his body with chemo and explored other alternatives, however unlikely they were to help

The prize wasn’t for ivermectin as a cancer treatment, but you knew this. Nobel prizes aren’t awarded to things anyhow.

Uh boy, this thread will last

Back to OP, I remember that episode. Didn’t he do something like convince Andy Dick that Dilbert would have resigned himself to his situation or something?
