Yeah I’m just not a fan of run first QBs
If my quarterbacks number one skill isn’t throwing the football by a wide margin, I’m just not interested. You could give me Lamar Jackson for the #2 pick and I wouldn’t want him Wouldn’t want Kyler either.

I think that’s fair, but I will also add that I think Lamar and Kyler are still young and could improve like Wilson did over time.
Lamar is getting better as a passer, but I don’t think he he will ever be a great pure passer.
I think the Ravens were a little too content to lean on his running ability at times.
Murray is more skilled as a thrower, but his longer throwing motion and short height is not a perfect combo. I am not a fan of what I have seen from Kingsbury’s play calling… so will be interesting to see how that situation plays out.
I think Willis could be a better passer than both of them down the road. I wouldn’t like him much if I didn’t believe he can be a really good passing QB.
I do believe Kingsbury is holding their offense back a bit. That should be Sean Payton’s next stop.
My personal little question I like to ask myself is this…if you take away a quarterbacks ability to run, would he still be an NFL starting quarterback. If the answer is no, I don’t want him. Now that’s a little bit of an exaggeration but I think you get the idea. I’m definitely in the minority with this line of thinking. But I just can’t stand watching a QB who leans on his legs. Mahomes is even hard to watch for me because of how badly he wants to leave the pocket even when it’s unnecessary. That being said I obviously would still want Mahomes lol…I’m not crazy.
Malik Willis being the Lions future QB would anger me like no other. Having said that, I can absolutely see it happening. The Lions have tortured us our entire life. So of course when I see the light at the end of the tunnel, they would do something like this to me lol.
2023 is the year Stafford is returning to the Lions, part of the deal he made with Sheila when she agreed to trade him. Gives us 1 more season to build the team up
It would be a pipe dream come true for us to build up an amazing roster and the only missing piece is a QB. And Stafford comes home to win us a SB! I can not dream up a better scenario. Count me in!
Ridder is the QB I’ve wanted all year. It’s just a matter of where he falls to. Ridder > Willis IMO.
Ridder in 2nd round.
I’m not saying that pocket passers never get hurt. But just look at the careers of the players you mentioned.
Randall Cunningham did play until he was 38, but he was a backup for most of it.
Cam Newton took a beating his first 8 seasons. Now he’s a shell of his former self after it. Not a good starting quarterback anymore.
Steve McNair played 13 seasons, only played a full season 6 times.
Colin kaepernick didn’t get hurt but also only played 2 full seasons as a starter.
Rg 3 had his career cut short, although not his fault.
Guys like mahomes, Allen, Wilson, farve and elway ran when they had to but we’re pocket passers first. Like most of the other less mobile quarterbacks you mentioned they all got hurt at some point but they also had much longer careers as starters.
Carson Palmer was oft injured but still had 9 full seasons not counting his rookie year.
Tom Brady 22 years
Philip rivers 17 years
Drew brees 20 years
Dan Marino 17 years
Payton Manning 18 years
Drew Bledsoe 14 years 10 full seasons as starter
Joe flacco even managed 9 full seasons as starter
I’m not advocating against running quarterbacks. I would just prefer they be smart about it like Russell Wilson is. Yes he runs a lot but he never takes the hits that Lamar Jackson does. And he’s a pocket passer first. He only runs when it’s the best option.
This is why I’m liking Burrows more and more….
He just seems to be getting better - knowing when to run - but it’s his second option not first and only as he’s a pocket passer first!
The issue I’ve seen over the years with guys that mostly rely on power is that it looks great at the senior bowl but doesn’t translate to the nfl. You’re not going against players hoping to get drafted. You’re going against all pro’s like ragnow that are just as strong and athletic as you. You can get away with power if you have unreal strength and athleticism like a suh or ngata. Otherwise you best develop the rest of your game.
Ridder is the guy i want too. Intangibles and ability scream to being the qb from this draft that produces.
Who else joins westcoastlionsfan and myself in the ridder fan club?
Burrow’s line is terrible… but Joe also needs to get rid of a few more balls to avoid some hits.
He is not going to stay healthy long taking the hits he has been absorbing in recent games.
He is playing great for sure… but also needs to make his health a priority for the good of the team.
I would be shocked if they don’t go out and sign one of the top OLmen on the market and also draft one early. I expect a Chiefs like rebuilt Line this offseason. Their offense could be so scary for the next decade.
I’d rather use this draft to build up the roster and hope for a much better quarterback crop next year. We have the draft capital to trade up if we need to. There’s a good chance we may not need to. The rams lose a ton off their team next year and they don’t really have the cap space or draft picks to replace them. That would be a perfect scenario at this point. Stafford gets his ring and the rams implode next year.
They are fast and young…and well coached. How is their salary cap situation?
The Bengals are well under the 2022 cap… which is unfortunate… because that likely means Jessie Bates never hits the open market.
Right now he’s more like a rb that plays at QB
While I don’t agree with this thought at all… it did make me wonder.
If Willis was changed to RB because he didn’t have a cannon for an arm with a quick release…
What round would he be drafted in this year?

I don’t know, but I have pondered how Willis could be used in conjunction with Goff next year, and also in the happy case that Goff takes off next year to cement himself at The Quarterback. I haven’t come to any conclusions other than there are possibilities,
3rd, would be my guess
Yeah we disagree, a QB should be able to read single high S presnap and know where to go with the ball, he should be aware of his checkdown right in front of him rather than throw out of bounds, not cross his feet dropping back. Everyone agrees he’s raw, because he’s very raw.
Really good player. Domann, Taylor-Britt, Allen and Jurgens all have NFL futures
Jurgens looks really athletic at the combine.
I wonder if he will get an endorsement deal???
