You’ll take my word for it? Thanks? So when I say a guy makes bad decisions what does that mean? And when you use “pressure rate” that isn’t a “production-based” metric? Do you realize that one of the other knocks on Williams is that he disappears? That he isn’t consistent? Yes, EVERY guy I look at is nothing more that what I read in a column, I don’t watch any film and draw my own conclusions. I don’t read what others have to say. Go watch the Baylor game if you are wondering about the “disappearing” aspect of his game.
BC you are discarding the sacks against lower competition but then also disregarding his sacks against the best teams he’s played in his career. That’s a pretty selective filter. He played against three college football playoff teams during his career. Two of those are perhaps the two greatest offenses in college football history. In those 3 games he had 2.5 sacks. Yet that’s not relevant? You’re bringing up quality of competition concerns for a guy in the SEC west which just strikes me as altogether odd but you have your line of reasoning and I respect that.
So 3 games is the metric vs all games and 2.5 sacks in those 3 games isn’t “selective”? AND Alabama got sacked 3x by his team but his “one” makes him a hero? Shit no it isn’t relevant unless you’re also elevating the status of the 2 other guys on his team that did the same thing. He was one of three that got a sack. Go break down his tackles too, I’m not the one who started only sacks as a metric here, I broke it down. In 2020 Williams was the only sack in a game where Alabama scored 63 points, Jones was 28-32 for 417 yards and Harris ran for over 200 of their 306 rushing yards. I gotta tell ya, I’m not seeing where anyone would use one sack from that game as how great he played.
I too heard he was showing out so is Christian Watson…we need a big wr and he is 6’5 and apparently playing well in Mobile.
I like Watson a lot as well. I’m just less familiar with him.
Those two and Danny Gray are the three Sr. Bowl WRs I most want as Lions.
Players want to play for MCDC…coaches want to coach for MCDC…this is going to be a fun ride.
I watched some yesterday and was impressed with a couple of the TE’s that were looking good. Dulcich, from UCLA, was originally a WR and ran a great route and was all alone when he caught a “TD” pass. Isaiah Likely was the other TE that ran some great routes and had a couple decent catches. Both are in the receiver first mold and not really known for their blocking. If we get a guy like Eric Saubert in FA I could see picking up a guy like Dulcich who isn’t on everyone’s radar.
Dude’s got some juice. Measured in smaller than I expected but I like me some juice.
He’s expected to run in the 4.4’s because he has before. And as I said before I expect a run on edge players and that he will go before the 3rd. I just don’t see a place for him with us.
Wow. I didn’t know that. If he runs sub 4.5 he’s gin going higher than the third round. If teams are okay with the character issues that is.
Yes, he’s been clocked in the 4’4’s and a had a 40" vertical, I posted this earlier. It’s why I said that after the combine he is likely to rise. He’s also Sam Williams, senior. If you look into his background he’s more mature than the “character issue” concerns.
“First off, I have a son that I have to go hard for,” Williams, whose son was born 10 months ago, said, “and my coach always told me never let a man judge your heart or your effort. I seen those articles. I took it to heart. I want ever let a man judge my heart or my effort anymore.”
Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin has said that, when Williams reported for fall camp, he seemed to be a different and more mature and serious person."
BTW, ESPN 2 has live coverage of Senior Bowl practice right now for anyone who’s interested.
Dulcich with an easy TD, chip and catch. Willis is back in now.
Yup. And the QBs still suck.
Dulcich is really intriguing. I actually think it was you that I was in a thread with when the LSU/UCLA game was going on. He made that amazing run after the catch and multiple posters were like, “who dat?”
They’re really trying to hype them hype them up.
Willis’s first instinct is to run, he won’t be able to do that in the pro’s. He needs to get the ball out when the window is open. You’re going to hear the same good and bad comments about him throughout this from practice until the game has been played because it’s all true.
Zappe has probably been the best today as far as making quick, correct decisions, but none of them have really stood out. Strong looked OK in the earlier practice but only cause he looked more athletic than I thought he was on tape. Throwing the ball he was as meh as everyone else.
This is fun for them. The qb comp.
With the senior bowl having 6 qbs between the sides. I wish they could bring the skills comp that the NFL used to have
