Can we take a second to give Sheila her due? I know she’s taken some heat, but I feel like she has quickly become one of the best owners. Not only in the NFL - but in all of sports. She had a vision, she surrounded herself with the right people to find the people to make her vision become a reality. It’s because of Sheila that we have Dan, Brad, and I’m assuming she wasted no time in opening the pocket books to keep Ben.
Dan said it best when he gave her the game ball after the season. He’s been around the league and she’s the best.
I think she learned a lot while in her first year or two when mom still “ran” the team. The experience made the DC/BH hires go much smoother as she identified what changes/additions ie Spielman, needed to be made instead of an outside agency to find a GM/HC
DC speaking to how awesome she was at the end of the packers game said a lot… she has surrounded herself with the right people and she herself seems to know how to actually manage the team. Her mom got it started and she is carrying it through. She’s a darn good owner.
It will be nice to see her get cheered once we win the Superbowl within the next few years. She seems to have class and is generally interested in providing Michigan with a team we can be proud of. I wonder who her father is?
Also too, the Fords have probably done more actual good for the city of Detroit in recent times than any other previous owner, including the Ilitch’s (though I don’t think I’ll get much pushback on that one, screw the Ilitch’s)
They don’t steal money from the city, they actually contribute to the city, and they aren’t generally shitty people… and now they are getting the football team figured out
Welp, the results are 2 dogshit seasons, 2 disappointing seasons and 1 good and hopeful season.
I think it is in good hands top to bottom, but let’s just slow down a chunk. Tom Monaghan bought the Tigers and they go out and start 35-5 and win a WS.
8 years later he has Randy Smith napalming the org top to bottom and The Billionaire Pizza King Transfer is not far on the horizon…
I like direction and signs seem like she might be doing the little things that go a long way that really show she’s committed
She’s entering the more expensive part of putting together a winner imo so I hope she keeps
"NFL Source; After the Lions/Packers game and getting the second game ball by Dan Campbell. Sheila the Monday after called several owners, about the Seattle/Rams game, and officiating in general several other owners agreed. It’s expected to be on the table when they next meet.
One idea floated out is a sky judge which the NFL could use to quickly fix plays that weren’t called correctly, or in case to save time for a quick review that doesn’t need to be reviewed. The NFL has been reluctant to think about the skyjudge, but more owners have expressed concern with refs in coming months.
The Lions could be once again subject to another rule change at the expense of the Lions. "
