I still think he’s in that Deebo/Corley vein in which there is a path to extreme productivity but you’ll have to scheme him touches in space, use him in the backfield etc.
I would prefer to not see him go to SF in round two.
It’s mostly about the off-field stuff, character, work ethic, He’s your classic star who’s had his ass kissed so they could keep him and he acts like it. According to these scouts anyway. “Good player Saturday, very ordinary Monday through Friday.”
Wild I don’t think he is anything special as WR. He is quick at times but nothing special at all to me. I think he is a day 3 pick . Someons will draft "the name ".
My favorite WR is Jaylin Noel. I love him as a player. Wish we could get him the roster. Total stud
But is he a niche guy you manufacture touches for, or is he a legit do-it-all NFL WR that you also manufacture touches for? Deebo was the latter. Patterson, Toney, Shenault, Tavon, etc… were the former. That’s what the deep diving by scouts right now is trying to find out.
It’s certainly possible, but it depends where he ends up. I doubt he plays nearly as much CB in NE, for example, and Cleveland has already come out and said they see him as a WR. Just like most of these guys the fit will matter.
I think you’ll see him both ways plenty though, even if it’s just in dime, or as a 3rd WR. I just to see him both ways close to full-time the fit will really matter.
Not sure what the Giants would do, for example. Might be the most likely spot for the most exposure to both sides of the ball.
I think the hype has gotten a little out of control. I liked him at Houston a lot and was surprised no one was talking about him after he transferred, but he was always - and remains - a day 2 guy in my book. He’s a good athlete but not to the level he tested (plus it seems like maybe there was some clock shenanigans?). I also don’t love his hands - not only the drops but the way he uses them to catch the ball and the way he telegraphs the ball being on its way. Early hands rather than late, I worry NFL DBs are gonna eat that up.
The WRs and the CBs are more difficult for me to evaluate and are often influenced by highlights and what others say. Most of them I just notice because I happen to be watching one of the guys in the trenches on the same team.
That being said I thought Golden and Burden both looked like pretty good football players.
For sure you really have to find the all-22 and that’s not as easy (though, caddy’s cut ups). I like highlights to get a grasp of what a guy can do at his best, though I wish someone would put together some corresponding lowlights (maybe that’s a niche). But it’s just impossible to get a down-to-down feel without watching the full tape.
Ironically it’s Golden’s teammate Bond who I started to sour on really early in the season. Highlights are top notch, but the down-to-down stuff was incredibly disappointing.
Also allows you to see just how open a guy like Loveland was most of the time that doesn’t show nearly as much on the live angle. They really did a disservice to him this year.
