I think Mykel goes 9 to the Saints. None of their beat guys believe they’re going 1st round QB. Maybe 2nd round or trade up.
I think Loveland’s floor is Indy at 14. He’s a Colts-son. He’s with the Colts, son! Eh, I don’t know, there’s something good there. @CuriousHusker will figure it out.
Upon futher review, I don’t want us to draft Tyler Booker.
His hand usage is what concerns me the most on some of his tape that I just watched. He’s not very good at getting his hands inside the DLs shoulders and on the inside of their pads, which will lead to getting beat at the next level against better competition. Anybody who can push and pull a guy his size will be able to see a ton of success rushing the passer. He leans on just being big a little too much for my liking. He’ll still be big in the NFL, but big ≠ good, and I think premier IDL pass rushers with better leverage will show him why. He also plays a little too top heavy, or at least it looks that way.
I think this is why his type tends to fall a little. He’s a much better prospect than Torrence but people wanted us to take him in the 1st and he fell almost all the way to the 3rd. I think Booker’s outstanding leadership skills keep that from happening, but I wouldn’t be stunned if he fell into the early 2nd.
I would think that, BUT I think the Jets prefer Warren of the two. He’s the one they’ve brought in and spent a bunch of time with. I think they’d take Graham or Membou above Warren, but if they’re gone I think he’ll come into play above Loveland.
But if the Saints go TE? The Bears? They could easily go Loveland first.
McShay today: There is a greater chance of one QB going in the first round than there is three QBs going in the first round". Per some source inside a front office…
Watch how wide his hands are as he approaches the DL, and then 9/10 times he’s making contact on the front of the shoulders…and then staying there. What I’d like to see more of is his hands moving inside to grab the DL’s chest plate either as, or before, he makes inital contact.
His hands are inconsistent as you habe astutley stated.. He does not possess the technical prowess or athleticism that fraley would find appealing. We are talking specifically about the lions, their offensive line and what is required of their guys. There are a great many blocks required by lions OL that he is not good at. Dude is good. Just notna good fit for Detroit.
I personally would prefer tate rutledge over booker for detroit. That’s just me though. Think he would be a better fit in the lions scheme then Booker.
He’s a much better “live game” player than he is a film player…if that makes any sense.
Like, when watching him live, you usually don’t notice the hand placement thing, because at the end of the day he still makes the block, but that just won’t translate well to the next level.
As far as hand placement I think it is excellent. I would say sometimes defenders don’t want to cooperate. He has maybe the most impressive hand punch to the chest that I have seen from an OG in recent history. If you are not impressed from the highlight reel that you showed I just don’t know what to say. I feel like all I have done is defend Booker for the last 3 days. If you want to say he doesn’t run fast enough in a 40 yd dash or his RAS score isn’t high enough I have no argument. As far as tape on how to play OG I don’t see anyone better than Booker in this draft. That’s just my opinion.
