This is the first clear shot in that video that gives us a good look at his hands and how he’s punching the DL. You see how wide he is? And how wide his elbows are? It works at the college level because he’s just that big and the threshold for holding is usually lower, but if he goes up against a Jalen Carter type, he’s getting ragdolled between that hand placement and his lack of leverage at this point in pass pro.
There’s also times when he’s engaged with the DL and moving around that his feet get WAY closer and way higher off the ground than they should. I think the push and pull move is going to kill him at the next level if he doesn’t get that fixed.
I’m still a big fan of his, and I think he’ll be a solid pro, but I agree with @QBHATER90 when he says he’s just not a fit for what we ask our guards to do. There’s some really good clips in that video where he does everything correctly, but in a ~10 minute highlight tape, you’d like to see those style of plays more consistently.
If the defender turns and gives you his shoulder and “gets skinny” you can’t get hands to the chest and you adjust your base to keep him in front of you. In your screen shot I can’t see his hands or the distance between he and the defender. If he is already engaged with his hands on the defender, judging by his posture I would say that defender is about to be pancaked. If there is space between he and the defender I would agree Booker is in a poor position and overextending.
Some rumors I’ve seen today. Derrick Harmon has been flagged for some medical stuff… potentially falling in the draft a bit. Also, sounds like cowboys really like Simmons.
I just saw Renner and Long talking about Harmon. They said don’t believe the projections of him going to Pittsburgh or Baltimore because he will be long gone before those teams pick. No mention of injury though.
The injury stuff is solely based on an interview with Bryan Broaddus, a Dallas beat reporter (also says Alfred Collins is hurt). Seems like he’s pretty respected, and of course Rick Gosselin used to the GOAT when it came to getting bona fide draft info (and his mocks were the best), so maybe Broaddus has some of the same connections? I don’t know.
Does that make him a faller? I was certain a bunch of teams up too high would be all over him making him unrealistic, but maybe he isn’t? Because I have trouble believing we don’t love him. I’ve heard as much.
