Sorsby Lions interest?

Odds are high that he and Jamo would have quite the connection. Would likely parlay it into a few tuddies.

7th round lottery ticket might work.

OP maybe consider a poll?

  1. What pick do you think Sorsby goes for?
  2. What would you give up roundwise to put a claim on him?

Personally I think he goes for a 3rd and I would put our 4th on it (assuming we still have that).

@CuriousHusker seems like if we were willing to ditch a future pick to add a guy we would have done it to move up for someone else or an additional player.

I think he’s akin to Dart talent wise so I’m fine with a 3rd personally. I trust our vetting of character.

I thought lions wanted to stay away from off field issues

They want to stay away from turds, but if they meet with this guy and think he’s a guy with a disease who could use a second chance, I could see us going for someone like that. What we avoid are people who don’t work hard or love football, not immaturity cases.

lol I think his issue is on field.

Nobody is going to touch him. He isn’t good enough to overcome the negatives of a gambling addiction. Was a mid round prospect without the off field issues.

Nothing against the young man, but this sounds like a recovering alcoholic trying to get a job as a wine tester. He is going to be bombarded by temptation to gamble again. I don’t want the Lions to get involved in Sorsby’s unwise decision making.

Really? You think he would have went mid rounds this year had he declared and had no character issues? I figured he would have been a top 40 pick. His tools are pretty damn insane. Some of the decision making is dicey but teams often think they can coach that ought of a guy.

Though I do have no clue how badly the gambling issue will affect his stock I think he’s a pretty talented kid.

I think without the issues he would have gone in round 2. The talent is there, but I wouldn’t plug him as anyone I would start. Seems like someone the rams or eagles could have taken to wean.

Yes, I think he was overvalued in the portal because TT was desperate and had bottomless pockets. 3rd rounder at best. With the red flags, maybe a 7th. Gambling is something the NFL takes seriously.

Right, purely based on the tape I’d put him in that Dart, Shough, Lock, Simpson, Love, Levis, Danny Dimes tier, late 1st/early 2nd round guy who could go higher if a team falls in love (like Dimes and Simpson did)

Sorsby sounds like a Browns and Raiders move

That quality IMO. Similar to some and quite different than others. He doesn’t play with anticipation like Simpson. I think Dart is the archetype but I think Sorsby’s tools are a good bit louder IMO. Fast as hell and can throw the living shit out of the ball. Gun to my heads he’s the most naturally talented of that list. Just not good enough of a decision maker currently. Both on and off the field.

Yeah, but I don’t see the Lions willing to spend that kind of draft capital to get him. I think it was Dan who said he expected some team to throw a second-round pick at him.

I’m not convinced he’s a legit NFL QB anyway.

13-18 record as a starter.

I think Brad and Dan are just trying to make someone else overpay for him. Potentially moves the Lions up one spot in the 2nd round next year.

You evaluate college QB prospects by wins and losses?

Assuming due diligence is done, I wouldn’t mind developing a real QB prospect behind Goff. The cost for said is usually pretty steep. Picking one up on the cheap is something I could totally see Brad doing. He’d have years to learn behind a true pro in Jared.

I’d offer a 5th if he passes the smell test… He’s a top 100 player in 2026 draft, but the 27 QB class is WAY deeper and QB isn’t a need right NOW, but could be soon.

One other thing, if the price is right he’s an ideal Taysom Hill type. Not quite that level of athlete but not to far off. So if you want to have that style of short yardage package he can contribute weekly even if it’s just as a bit piece.
