I’m getting sick of the saying “that X QB needs everything to be perfect.” all QB’s have to have a certain number of things to be right to operate at a high level, and no w
onder that once things start to mess up, QB’s are not “as good” as they once were….shocker !
Your hindsight is definitely 2020. If ARSB was so outstanding and everybody knew it, then please explain how he lasted until the fourth round. This should be good.
This question can’t be answered. They’re both two different QB’s. Different skill-sets. I always thought Goff was in the middle. Good not great, but good enough to win. But I always thought Stafford is elite especially how he’s been playing this season. So, if Stafford was on this team playing like he’s been playing then no I wouldn’t bash him i’d praise him. But if he struggled I’d criticize him. Silly question.
But here is the real problem with your question: Why are you comparing them? Why not compare other players or even coaches? I am allowed to like Stafford, or Brock Purdy, or Tim Tebow or anyone else I damn well please. I’m not a hater.
I’m critical of the Lions because I care about them. I love Stafford and all, but he can go ahead and lose as long as we win.
The question surely can be answered. You are just avoiding your hypocrisy and bias-for. And why am I comparing them?? Same focking reason you are participating in this thread.
That not true. Goff has a bottom 5-10 and may end up with his best season.
Stafford has the most 3 turnover games on nfl history and 2nd most pick 6s. He hasn’t succeeded with shitty OLs, he’s had highlights and good games. He’s only won and produced on stacked teams with great OLs
So if Goff manages to win a SB in the next 3 seasons… he will be better in every possible category…. I’m not saying he’s better, but to argue he absolutely is not at least equal is absurd.
I’ll take Stafford comfortably…so would 98%+ of the football world. I guess we are all absurd
My friend, now do their playoff statistics
Not to mention…because context and situation doesn’t matter at all here, just statistics…it’s a good thing that Matt played on one of the worst franchises in sports for 2/3rds of his career. Otherwise this wouldn’t even be a debate. One thing Goff has had in his entire NFL career is stability. How many different regime turnovers did Matt Stafford have to endure here? You ignore everything that hurts your argument while putting complete emphasis on regular season statistics.
Goff played for Sean McVay and Dan Campbell all but one season in his career. Both elite coaches…but that doesn’t matter either, just statistics…sound absurd if you ask me
Goff is going to be the superior QB statistically. Despite both being pocket passers, they are completely different stylistic. Stafford attempts throws (and can also make them) that Goff wouldn’t even attempt. Goff is pretty conservative, Stafford is pretty aggressive. That leads to more incompletions and interceptions. And those, along with yards per attempt, are the driving factors in quarterback rating.
