The Steelers upgraded their head case #1 receiver, but Metcalf is still very much a head case. He’s just a lot better on the field than Pickens. I have a feeling Pickens will look pretty average if he gets into an offense that doesn’t force the ball to him out of necessity. How will he react to no longer being the big fish in a small pond with CeeDee Lamb getting more targets?
Unless CeeDee Lamb gets injured… I doubt this very much.
Pickens makes a few “highlight” type of catches… but doesn’t run quality routes and consistently lacks effort. This goes back all the way through his college days. He isn’t going to magically improve over all of the good WRs who have been putting in the work wvery year.
.
28 WRs had more yards than Pickens in 2024….
and I would consider 25 of them to be solidly better WRs than George.
Great post showing that my opinion was very likely an ill-researched, off-the-cuff response lacking any depth, reasoning, or logic that was indeed influenced by a few Sports-Center highlight catches. I hate when that happens!
Didn’t they have a WR that shot himself and went to jail for it…lol he might have been a Giant by then but the Steelers have a type at WR. Plus Big Ben sexually assaulting chicks. The Steelers have had a lot of classy fellas. Buggs was another one. Not quite KC but close.
Yea he was gone… But he was stll a class act as a Steeler.
This was not the first time that Burress had been temporarily suspended by an NFL team—in May 2004, he was suspended by the Pittsburgh Steelers for failing to show up for a Monday team practice. On October 24 he was issued four fines totaling $60,000 for the following reasons:
$20,000 for post-game comments regarding officiating—specifically, inappropriate comments on officiating.
$20,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct—specifically, verbal abuse of the head linesman.
$5,000 for throwing the ball in the stands.
$15,000 for slapping a referee in the face.
Although slapping a ref is pretty hilarious! Lol
The Steelers also brought him back after his jail term.
Pickens will never be a top 10-20 receiver in the NFL. But his game does compliment Ceedee. From that standpoint, he adds value to what they are doing on offense.
That would be Plexico, he was with the Steelers but he may have been with the Giants when he was in the night club and his gun went off shooting himself in the leg. NY state had some very strict gun laws at that time but he seemed to get off with a slap on the wrist and a bullet in his leg.
