WTF does Geno have to do with. The guy is gonna get paid too, and nobody knew he would step up like he did. But if your looking for that guy good luck, the Geno situation is one I wouldn’t bet on or follow. And a lot of Good QBs have been out played by Geno this year ,and I doubt a rookie is going to come in and out play Geno’s performance this year.

Let’s see how Smith does in the next few games without a healthy Kenneth Walker. If the threat of the run has been eliminated, opposing defenses are going to key on the passing game.

Rookie QBs come in and do well all the time in the NFL. Did Mac Jones not make a pro bowl and lead New England to the playoffs last year?

With the top QB out of the way, are any of the remaining candidates worth a top 5 pick. Most here don’t seem to think so.
That leaves the Lions second 1st Rd pick which appears to be headed for the teens. Maybe there, but with a top 10 offense led by Goff & Ben Johnson, and a bottom 5 defense, it seems more likely the Lions will focus on adding playmakers to their defense.

Drafting a QB just to draft one because it’s your “last chance” as you say is exactly why teams miss on QBs. And that’s how you suck forever. Going with a Guy that’s been playing pretty good and seems to be improving will win more games, then that pissing in wind theory.

lol. Fans can’t wait to draft the next Eric Ebron, Hockenson, or Okudah. Man the Lions got great value for those top picks. Bad teams stay bad because they take QBs high 
Goff can’t make the throws with the game on the line. He doesn’t have the ability to lead the team back from deficits. Taking a QB in the first this year is about as easy of a decision as a pro GM could make. Good thing Holmes doesn’t think like fans.
Imagine thinking CJ Stroud or Will Levis has a shot in hell to be better than Goff…

Very few wanted Hockenson. Most wanted Ed Oliver, Brian Burns, the other Josh Allen, or a trade down.
In 2020, with Stafford in place and a Lions administration fighting for their lives, Quinn wasn’t going to take a QB. So, if people were advocating for position players, it was due to that rather obvious reality.
Most wanted either Okudah or Derrick Brown.
Quite frankly, Okudah’s a candidate for comeback player of the year. He’s played that well post-injury.

Some don’t understand basic football
Okudah has turned into a serviceable CB 3 years into his career. He was the 3rd overall pick. That is a historically bad selection as Okudah was the first DB taken top 3 since 1997. What a disaster.
I believe the Lions use whatever resources necessary to get Bryce Young. Lions have a ton of ammo and are very close to being a real contender. Lions will never be a real contender with Goff at QB. That’s just the reality. Team needs to get to the next level and Young will take them there.
