There was some guy on this board who called Skubal for MVP at the start of the season. I can’t remember who it was, but damn, that guy is smart.

5 for 6 on TJ surgery right there on that list and Cole was a fraction away this year…still havent pitched this year after rest and rehab, looks like he will be in the rotation in a few weeks
It will be interesting to see what they do with Skubal. He is a FA at seasons end.
The Tigers so far arent having the season they’d hoped. Skubals trade value will never be higher. I don’t want to trade him but if they get a wild offer from a team, he may as well be done in Detroit.

The Tigers control Skubal through the 2026 season. He avoided arbitration this year by signing a one year deal, but still has 2 more years of arbitration before he can become a FA.

Tigers have his rights for more than this year.
He should be here long term. Tigers would be fools to trade a top of the line starting pitcher much less a top of the league starting pitcher.

It’s kind of fun to think about the haul we would get in return though. A young pitcher who is the favorite for the cy young, and still has 2 years of control left would bring a record breaking return.

The only reason you trade him is if you’re worried about mechanics long term and if that’s the case other teams can see that too and I don’t think the return would be incredible if that was the case. They could probably get it quite a haul for him but this team’s been down for a long time and they need the anchor along with him and John Flaherty and Jobe to be the reason that this window stays open for a half decade or more

I remember rumors last year that he was being shopped at the deadline. Probably just BS… but I remember some talking heads saying that.
Right now you’d need a kings ransom for him.
