I don’t see him that way. Meggatte was very elusive and could make people miss kind of a poor mans Barry. Achane is more of a one cut runner that runs through arm tackles he does not really avoid contact. It’s hard to come up with a good comp because most guys that siz and running style don’t last very long.
The only comp I could come up with was Chris Johnson but he was a little bigger and a little faster but the same running style. He did’t have a long career but he did have a 2,000 yard season.
Mini-Best?
Best was a lot more elusive and a much better receiver but he shied away from contact. I must say I was almost as excited as Schwartz when be got Best. He was electric!
Yep …. I think the same thing.
The team drafting him is looking for a returner first and plans to use him as a gadget type player.
I am confident in saying that’s where he ends up in the NFL.
I think it’s Bijan, Z. Evans, and then Gibbs personally.
Draft Deuce but make sure to wipe the slate clean
How do you gauge blocking skill and desire for these talented RBs? I always feel like there are good college RBs who can’t make the field in the pros because they can’t be trusted to block and protect the QB. I’m just wondering if talent evaluators for the NFL are also adding that component to their internal rankings? Maybe that affects these rankings? Or maybe that’s just very difficult to evaluate…just wondering
Yeah absolutely it’s important. And guys like Achane, Vaughn, Keaton Mitchell, Spears, etc… are gonna have to answer those questions (Spears did a pretty good job at the Senior Bowl). That’s part off the reason I’d like to try Achane at receiver. He’s a straight-up bad blocker but that won’t matter if he’s out in the pattern.
Corum reminds me of MJD.
What is Achane gonna run in the 40?
4.2something would be my guess.
People thought some receivers would run low 4.2s and none were even close.
True but none of them were as fast as Achane. There’s fast, then there’s Achane fast.
But even if he runs in the 4.3s it’s fine. Tyreek Hill’s first run during his draft process was in the 4.3s.
Hyatt is now saying he had a hammy. Both he and Scott were big suprises for me. I thought both would be a tenth faster. Palmer was around where I thought he’d be.

Fox woulx be embarrassed if he ran a 4.2
Last week the US shot down an unidentified object over the great lakes… ended up being one of Fox’s punts. He got pissed so he really booted the next ball. It was shot down over Ukraine mistaken for a russian drone.
4.34 unofficial first run from Achane
4.40 from Gibbs
They’ll never be plus blockers, an OC would be a fool to try and use them that way. But then you’re limiting yourself as an offense. I think with both Deuce and Achane you can give them a few inside handoffs to keep defenses honest - both were really good in college - so it’s not like they’re as limiting as your McKissic or Theo Riddick types, but you’re still gonna reduce the assignments of the defense whenever you bring them in. That’s behind the 8-ball in today’s NFL.
Scottie Montgomery already stated the two points of focus for his RB room will be:
- Protecting the quarterback and
- Protecting the ball.
Maybe that doesn’t bode well for deuce Vaughn who I really really really want
