After the Lions extend Brian Branch, Detroit will have a safety tandem for possibly 8 years or more that I believe will go down as the best duo in NFL history…
Am I crazy?
This duo will go down in history yes agree
The duo is so good AG is trying to duplicate it in NYJ
Andre Cisco ball hawk FS
Malachi Moore versatile S/NB from Bama
Chancellor and Thomas probably my top pair. Who knows though. We can all hope but the early returns are great!
Aren’t we all a little crazy for following the lions for the last 40 plus years?

100% true
…and yes! Love it!
(welcome to the club)
You’re reading and writing about NFL in friggin April → that’s crazy to most of society. We take offseason transactions more seriously than a casual fan takes winning/losing a playoff game. LOL.
Time will for sure dictate where these 2 rank all time.
I kind of think Ed Reed and a drunk hobbled fool would be the best all time. But I am a huge Ed Reed fan.
Didn’t the ravens have Ed reed and rod woodson together for a year?
That seems criminal…
I am still trying to grasp the Steelers 1974 draft. Once it was pointed out to me years ago I still shake my head. As even the damn UDFA were awesome in the fact that Donnie Shell is now in the HOF…an UDFA. So while BH is a beast the best draft of all time is still the 1974 Steelers. Now time will tell if the Lions get a few HOF out of the drafts they have had. It feels like Hutch and ASTB could both make it if they keep it going. Which 2 in one draft sounds inane.

We can only hope. There will be competition from the Ravens at least, since they just drafted a twin of their current stud at safety.
ahhhhh fooseball in April “ma ma ma ma we’re all crazy now.”
Pre Super Bowl
Pre merger
Doesn’t count
I was going to say that ed reed and most of the guys he played with are probably tops for now. Branch and joseph are definitely better than we’ve had in detroit maybe ever. Remember Brock Marion!?!
There was no AFL at the time. No watered down competition. They gonna just take Lambeau’s name offa that frozen tundra shithole? Johnny Unitas doesnt count? Don Hutson? Lance Alworth? JIM BROWN DOESN’T COUNT?!!??!!?
Honestly, for pass defense I do think that Branch and Kerby could go down as the one of the greatest as a tandem. They don’t level you like some have in the past, but they are both great all around safeties.
I loved Dennis Smith and Steve Atwater back in the day. Though they’d both get thrown out of games if they played that way today.
But the best safety team of all time was not even a pro team. The best safety team in history was and will always be the 1980 USC Trojans with Ronnie Lott, Dennis Smith and Joey Browner. ![]()
I dunno Ed Reed and Sean Taylor might give them a run for their money at Miami.
