The debate is over: Jared Goff will be Detroit Lions' well-paid QB for a

I agree he’s going to get over 50 mil a year. Meinke had suggested 45 yesterday and I think he’s still undervaluing him a bit.

I’ve been a critic of Goff when it comes to his ‘clutch gene’ but he’s led this team to heights I’ve never seen before. He’s worth the re-up.

I’ve been a Goff supporter and I believe he can get 50mil + on the market.

The problem I have with paying him is that he needs a solid OL to succeed. It’s going to be hard to pay him and the OL too

I just want a deal that allows the team to stay loaded across the board

I am not sure if that means he had to take less or maybe can be achieved through structure with voidable years

Remember when Dak asking for 40 was absolutely absurd?

A lot of people are saying that Dak is gonna get 60 this time around.

Well, since Dak can’t win in the playoffs, maybe it still is!

Easy, he can be a brand ambassador for Ford for 10m a year right? That’ll work?

Well he sucks and is a choke artist soooooo

Does anyone realize that Goff was the 3rd!!! Highest cap hit for a Qb this year? 3rd!!!
Even if he gets 50m+ a year they could structure it in a way that he would hardly crack the top 10.

Heres what i could see with a 200m 4 year extension

Now keep in mind,
Love, Tua, Lawrence, Dak, Fields and Purdy are ALL going to get extensions soon too.

But look at where goff would CURRENTLY rank if he got that deal.

13th! On average. He would be an NFL average paid QB. This is the new world. If you have A qb they are going to get 50m a year. No matter if you elite like mahomes or just good enough.

With each playoff win the price goes up.

After he wins Super Bowl MVP… just give him a blank check to fill out

What?

In terms of cap hit. Goff was number 3*** sorry forgot about Tanihill.

1 Mahomes $31.2M
2 Tanihill $36.6m
3 Goff $31.0m

Cap hit and what a person is being paid are vastly different measures my friend. You said Goff is the 2nd highest paid QB but there are people getting twice what he’s being paid. Cmon now.

Very true you got me.

But the only thing that matters is cap hit. Dude could make a billion dollars. I wont care if his cap hit is $1m

Also quick list of teams with QB under 40m cap hit going forward after extensions are done.

SEA, That may change if they give Geno more money.
LV,
CAR
HOU
IND
NE
PIT
TEN,
MIN
TB
ATL
WAS.

Tell me which team on that list is going to be a true threat in the playoffs. Maybe Houston.

Correct. Goff is actually the #16 highest paid QB this year.

cap hits are 100% useless. You want to compare players at the same position, compare cash paid or APY.

I understand that. But from a team building stand point. Cap is all that matters.

Pays scale has nothing to with skill. Its all market value.

From a team building standpoint, cash paid is all that matters, once you pay a player cash, that cash has to hit the cap at some point.

Cap hit is irrelevant, if it was important, we would have used a pen and dropped Goff’s cap hit by $20M.
