I have some bad news guys. I’ve spent all night and day trying to figure out how to tell you guys this and I still don’t know how to do it. So I’m just going to spill it.
My heath has taken a very serious turn for the worse. I thought the cancer was contained to my kidney, but after an emergency visit (I couldn’t breath) they found that the cancer has spread throughout my body. Including my lungs, kidney, and liver.
Long story short, my organs are shutting down and there is nothing that can be done. Hospice and my family has been called and im told that I will probably be lucky to make it through the weekend.
I want you guys to know that you made a huge difference in my life the past few years. I don’t have the words to say how much you have meant to me. I actually and truly love you.
If the Lions, Tigers, Wings, Michigan or the Pistons win a title…pour one for me!
Please keep this to yourselves until I pass. I don’t want to read a bunch of sad shit.
I love you guys and thank you for being my friend.
I will be texting a link to this thread to his wife so she and the family can read this.
His wife let me know that this board meant so much to him and made his life better over the last few years.
I’m at work, and teared up reading this. One of best things about the Den, was reading @Bols posts. Thank you sir, for many good laughs and memories. Heroes are remembered, but Legends never die. To Bols.
@Bols was more than a Den legend. He was a true gent and beyond the memes and jokes was a solid dude that will indeed be missed. He took the time to DM me a few times and told me some of his backstory. For those he think he was only a joker, I can tell you there was a lot of substance to the man and this place surely lightened his load as his body turned against him. Thankfully we are more than our bodies and he is now free of this mortal coil. I’m glad you got to see the USA win gold a few weeks ago, Bols. Made me puke but I know it put a smile on your face and that made it better for me.
I am sure everyone else feels this way, but I feel like I have lost my biggest fan on this board. Bols truly liked everyone, even the unlikeable. This hits hard.
He was like a brother, always positive no matter the pain he was going through. Tiger game threads won’t be the same this year. This hits hard and thrown my day for a loop to be honest. So thankful he got time with the grandkids, he loved them to no end and at least they got to spend some time with him as well.
Which is truly an amazing trait to have when going through his own personal struggles. I have mad respect for the way he lived. The Lions and Michigan seasons won’t be the same this year.
Just woke up to this and…I’m actually kind of devastated. Rest in peace Charlie @Bols You truly were one of the best here. Thoughts and prayers to your family and loved ones
I’m incredibly grateful I had the honor and the privilege to get to know Charlie. We all can learn something from the way he treated people, and there is no doubt in my mind that Charlie did his part to make this world a better place than it was when he got here.
For that, we are forever in debt. Thank you @Bols one more time for everything you’ve done both for me and for everyone else in this community.
Tough to lose someone from this board. But what a great letter. A nice reminder that this place is an escape for many … and can also be a support center.
