This is simply amazing, thank you for doing this, His family i hope will appreciate it, because he would 100 percent.
It was an honor to know him, truly. Someone everyone loved, no matter how they felt about things were going in here.
Anything I say will come up short in trying to capture the amount of strength, grace and will it takes to put your focus on others and living in the moment while staring The Void in the face every day….while hurting.
To do it all with such good natured playfullness, consistently, blows my mind. I am beyond speechless as to how he was able to do it.
Giants walk among us, Giants of the Soul in some cases, like Charlie. Now he walks elsewhere, but his lesson by example remains.
Be a bringer of joy, happiness, positive. Be intentional about it. Do it because it lifts others up, and in that doing, raises you beyond your concerns, grave or transitory.
RIP Bols. You are missed already.
Count me in, it’d be nice if this was a shared gift from all.
Thank you @Nate, a great thoughtful gesture.
Nothing I can say will make the family feel any better but a few thoughts…
Bols,
Thank you for bringing patience and humor to a place we all love in a time of chaos, rudeness and disagreement in many other parts of day to day life. I always appreciated your perspective and humor. I love the inside jokes and keeping things light.
To the family:
Time is something I think about everyday because it’s finite and when it runs out it’s over. In many ways, it’s the most precious currency we have. Thank you for allowing @Bols to take some of his time and spend it with a group of strangers who love the same thing. That time from him was taken from all of you and given to us and this thread should show you the impact he had on many folks across the world. Celebrate the good times and try to laugh and smile. That’s what he did for us. I hope for strength for all of you as you deal with this challenging time.
To the Den-
Such a brotherhood here. While we don’t always agree, we always UNITE in times like these. Thank you.
Would love to send an arrangement if someone has the details.
Goodbye old friend. Until we meet again upstairs. Thoughts and prayers to his family.
It’s a sad day for the Den. A true legend as the title states. Rest in peace sir. This moment overrides all else in here. I’ll be praying for comfort and healing for his wife and family during their time of grief. ![]()
It will not be the same without you here. RIP
I’m a writer by trade, and yet don’t have the words. This one hurts.
All the grannies up in heaven better look out.
Oh GOD I hate when cancer takes good people, for the record, I never knew he had it this news has seriously ruined my day, the last thing I expected was to come online, get in The Den and find out one of you died…I mean ■■■■ that’s depressing. much love @Bols may you rest well in Heaven.
Oh man, I’m gutted by this. It’s weird how you can be so sad about a person you never met but I feel like @Bols was a great friend of mine and everybody here with his wit, positivity even through the toughest of times and just seemed like a very special guy in general that you can talk to about anything. Rest easy in paradise Charlie, you’ll be greatly missed. I can honestly say that this place will never be the same without you.
Also, please know that he was only joking about the granny stuff. We think.
Tough day. Always looked forward to reading the latest from Bols. Never failed to make me laugh. He is greatly missed already. Thought and prayers with all his family and friends. He definitely made the world a better place.
I don’t have the words for this, Bols was one of the people here I actually thought of him as a true friend. He is such a great person and just around good dude, I feel he made this a better place with his presents and me a better poster by the example he set. My heart hurts for my friend and his family maybe even more because no one could help missing this guy. My only hope now is that he knew how much me and others im sure loved his scenes of humor, logical opinions and kindness he shared. This one hurts a lot. Just want to say thank you Bols, I feel lucky that I got to be one of his friends and share this place with him. Just a hurting heart ATM.

A toast to one of my favorite posters, he will definitely be missed.
What sad news to hear. I truly wish I could learn his life story beyond The Den. He dropped a few nuggets now and then and really seemed like a “most interesting man in the world” type. RIP Bols.
That really horribly sucks.
I feel for his family. Seemed like a good guy.
Awesome Nate. I wouldn’t mind chipping in a bit as well.
Well not the news I was looking forward to reading today. R.i.p Charlie. You wont be forgotten about. Im honestly lost of words right now. Love ya buddy.
I’m not being very successful in holding them back. I never met him but I loved his posts here. More than once he got me to see a different angle on something. RIP friend
