Bols, Syd, LionsMom I’m sure there are others I’m missing. Bols and Syd having some great discussions.
Is there a memorial site where we can send flowers or plant a tree for him type of deal?
Isaac(Detroit Legend)
If you had to rank everyone’s favorite poster, Charile would be that guy. And it wouldn’t be particularly close.
To me he was a model of a person who, despite knowing his time was short, could remain so positive while spreading joy and laughter amongst us all. I hope I can show even half of his character when my time comes. He truly died with grace and dignity.
When he first joined the board, I can remember messagiing him asking why he was such a fan of Manute Bol. He told me that “Bols” was just “Slob” spelled backwards. Such a character.
We’ve lost a legend. A truly good person. Rest in peace, Bols.
Aww sad news. He was always livened up every thread he posted in. RIP man.
This, 100%.
The world could learn a lot from Bols. While so many other people bellyache and wallow in negativity over the most trivial things, he chose to stay positive even when he was given the shit end of the stick.
I’m sad and angry, but I feel fortunate to have been even a teeny part of his life. I’m glad he spent so much time here. The Den will go on, but it will NOT be the same.
I am seriously depressed. What a great guy Bols was. You will be missed my friend.
Man, I can’t even express the feelings and sadness I’m feeling right now. Bols was a class act and a Den legend, a kindred spirit and inspiration. His positivity throughout his battle is inspiring and his need to joke around and laugh was infectious. I felt like Charlie was a brother and a friend despite having never met. May you rest easy Bols, you will be forever missed and loved.
If I was not an everyday reader on this board, I would have never guessed Charlie @Bols had a medical condition. What a great sense of humor and a positive outlook on life and others.
I pray our Lord and Savior grant those left behind the peace only He can grant.
Bols, you are already missed and my heart is very saddened to hear of our loss. ![]()
Online communities can feel small sometimes, but the people who show up with good spirit and kindness really do leave a mark.
To his family, if you happen to read this: please know that he brought laughter and enjoyment to a lot of people who shared this little corner of the internet with him. We loved him.
Rest easy, friend. And if one of those Detroit teams finally brings home a title, there will absolutely be a drink raised in your honor.
RIP Bols. You will be missed. Your posts will be recalled and remembered. And laughed with probably 80% of the time. I suggest when we win something (which I will do even as a Spartan fan if your Wolverines win). I suggest we all post a “pour one out” photo in a Bols thread. It doesn’t feel like much, but it’s Den appropriate.
Man this really sucks. I’d come here daily, not just for Lions talk, but because @Bols would brighten up my day. He was always willing to joke around and keep things lighthearted. I’ve lost a lot of people in my life recently to cancer. I can’t take this shit. RIP Charlie we will all miss you. Hope the Lions give you something too look down on and be proud of this year.
I am gutted.
Bols shared the news with me yesterday. The fact that he spent one of his last moments messaging several of us about the importance of this community — this family — is a testament to how sacred this place is.
Putting the Lions, pixels, espnbaby, and hot grannies aside, at the end of the day we’re essentially writing letters back and forth. At the speed of light, sure, but it connects all of us in ways we understandably don’t always appreciate.
A reminder to take a breath before you click send.
I sent @Bols a gift yesterday. It’ll be received next week, so he’ll never see it. But it was sent on behalf of this forum, and I hope it’s a reminder to his family how cherished he was in this Den family!
31 represents the 31,000
you all gave him.
Holding up Bols. We’ll miss you, friend. Rest in peace.
RIP Bols. Man…he’s gonna be missed around here in the years to come.
Prayers for his family.
@Nate I love this. If there is a place that we can contribute for part of the cost to you, please post it. I’d love to help.
I love this and well said!!!
Just…. ■■■■ man. RIP @Bols You will be missed here man, always a joy to talk to you
Never forget you brother, thanks for the memories man. To his family or anyone who sees this, he was truly a one for one type of guy, and he was beloved here by everybody, man brought laughter and joy.
Can rest easy now, not being in pain anymore, hope its peaceful brother.
You guys have to look at penis enlargement ads all day. You’ve done your part.
That’s awesome @Nate Thank you for doing that.
I’m going to miss Charlie so much. I know he’s in a better place now. He was in so much pain physically. The whole time he was sick, he was still messaging me to ask about my father after his stroke. He truly cared. Just an absolute amazing human being and a great friend. I already miss him.
The den won’t be the same but we will keep your legend alive here.
I’ll see you again my friend. Save me seat.
