It shouldn’t be too much for these guys to play defense ranked around 20th. This seems to be the annual shit show. The majority of next years draft and free agency should be spent on improving the front 7. Whether on offense or defense, teams should be built from front to back. It allows you to take average running backs and defensive backs and turn them into more than they are individually. Freakin’ Jamal Williams is leading the league in touchdowns behind our offensive line. Okudah could be leading the league in interceptions with a dominant Dline.
Hutch rushing from 2 pt stance. Hell he could potentially block more passes
If you’re going to run a 4-2-5, it’s critical you get quick pressure and stop the run. 49ers have personnel to do both. Do we have the personnel is the question or do we need to adapt scheme to talent we have. Both #44 and #34 are always playing close to stop the run which leads me to believe the dline isn’t doing the job.
Until then, what DC is saying is fluff to take the heat off AG
I’ve been saying this since day one. I said the Lions wouldn’t play him in position to be successful. Hutch IMO is too heavy. Between 255-260lbs is perfect. Also, he wouldn’t take the pounding going against a tackle every play with hand in dirt
As someone mention McNeil doesn’t have Ngata or Vea strength. There’s no way in hell he should be getting blocked 1-on-1 but he is. He has been a big disappointment as well. The way he is playing he isn’t a good fit for either a 3-4 or 4-3 attacking. He can’t generate a double team
I think a big problem is that he’s playing at the wrong weight. You’re right that he doesn’t have that Samoan/Tongan strength. He does have quickness though. Especially if he plays around 315/320. Not the 350 he’s at.
That and the nfl has a year of tape on glenn. They know his tendencies now. The Seahawks exploited the hell out of them. That’s a huge reason they got so many huge chunk plays in situations they shouldn’t have. Glenn lost us that game flat out.
I know I was just kidding! Ball go right, he go left!
Barnes played 14 snaps, with 2 tackles, 5 of those snaps was after the game was already decided. Barnes had a nice tackle for 1 yd gain with 2:37 left that’s what I saw, but continue with your hate doesn’t bother me.
Also I predicted over two weeks ago, In the post about Barnes’ availability, that Board snap count would go down and excuses would be made. That is exactly what happened Sunday. Board had zero snaps on Sunday, Board did not deserve to be benched either. Campbell’s relationship with Anzalone is costing and will continue to cost him the locker room.
My prayer is they trade Barnes to Seattle for Sidney Jones, then all will be well for me. I know Barnes can play, 9 tackles 1 pass deflection in the red zone in 32 snaps against a Super Bowl bound team. You can’t erase those stats no matter what you say.
The word is that Board has a knee injury and was limited in practice leading up to game. We shall see if his reps go back up after the bye. He was a game time decision to play last week.
