The Goff Contract renegotiation

Hes a virtually $70m cap hit next year.

But reworking the deal will lock him in for the rest of his contract . No way to trade or release him.

Does this look like a realistic possibility @DeadStroke

Base salary to signing bonus.

Ad a void year.

Cuts his cap number from $70m to $27m. Saving $43m

We also have $20 mil or so in cap roll over from this year as well

I remember when that deal was signed that this offseason was discussed as an inevitable restructure point. Hopefully this gets done.

That just BARLEY covers what the lions are gonna be over the cap.

With a 9% increase of the cap. The lions are currently at virtually $0 (with the rookie draft class included)

Renegotiate Goff Stbrown and sewel

Would save over $70m in cap space. So say a cool even $50m after rookie deals and saving for moves in season.

$50m could help this roster out tremendously. And that’s BEFORE you make some decisions on guys like Monty, Glasgow, Decker, Wright

Older vets. On the downhill big time. That could free up another $25+m with those 4 alone.

A lot of very tough decisions to make

I feel like teams do this all of the time with many of their star players. So I feel pretty Good about us generating some extra space fairly easily.

waiting for @DeadStroke to chime in

This and others were all going to be done. The Eagles build the option bonus in. The Lions had always planned on restructuring players - Goff, Sewell, ARSB, McNeil. Reporters are going to make a bigger deal out of it than it is, it’s a simple bookkeeping issue.

As always…. perfectly said.

on one hand 70 million would help this team in the offseason BIG, on the other, I want no part of burning a draft pick on a RB.

They have 5 RBs under contract or team control for next season. I dont think they really need to add another

Just draft well no need to do nothing. Goff has a no trade clause.

Does he???

Yes. He made sure he won’t go through what the Rams did to him again

Yes, that makes since, lol

Interesting, all those players had subpar season. Got paid and their play dropped big time.

Interesting… All those players numbers have top 5 at their position :man_shrugging: 2 are probably going to be all pro again this season

I’m surprised anyone is still paying attention to him.

Don’t ruin his narrative with reality, he will be depressed to find out things may not be that bad going forward.

@DeadStroke

I renegotiated Goff, St Brown, Sewell, Decker

Cut Glasgow

With the cap going up 9%. With $20m in roll over.

And save some money for in season and draft picks.

I have ~$80m in space for 2026
