The price of beef is insane

I used to get a beef chuck roast from Costco for around $24. I went yesterday and I almost buckled to the ground. A whole packer brisket is closing in towards $100 at Costco. Crazy.

Its bad. But I go to my local place. Behind a actual counter, much cheaper.

We split a half cow with my parents every year… Works out to $4/lb… Usually end up with 10-12lbs of ground beef, 6-8 steaks, 16 short ribs, 3-4 roasts and a few odd ball cuts

The price of everything has quadrupled in the last 10 years and wages are up like 150%.
The economy is going to need another hard reset soon.

I was going to make a brisket for Christmas until I was confronted with the price.

Unreal.

Might just raise my own beef.

It’s out of control. Just been buying ground beef to make burgers, meatloaf, etc cause all the other cuts are insanely priced

Be a good parent. Don’t butcher it!

A good way to save money, go the park start feeding the ducks. Once you are surrounded by 25 ducks or so let the games begin.

I did buy a package of the Costco stew meat for about $36 to make the worlds best beef stew.

I’ve also been buying these Costco frozen burgers. Against the packaging’s recommendation, I do defrost them before I cooking them. They actually turn out quite delicious. Better than just about any chain burger out there. Sometimes I’ll just have one of them with a fried egg top, no bun. Scrumptious. They used to be $20 a bag…now they’re $30 a bag. It’s still a relatively cheap meal though.

Nothing’s better on the grille. Love me a good porterhouse.

Everyday shopping has to be strategic. It’s amazing the packaging game that manufacturers and retailers are playing. Using Dunkin as an example, the tub size at Sam’s isn’t the same as what a shopper might see on Amazon. Likewise, the amount of coffee in a bag at Dollar General isn’t the same weight as what’s in Walmart.

And every day the game changes. You gotta be on your toes out there. Everyone’s trying their damnedest to separate us from our cash.

I hope the price of cow tipping doesn’t go up for you. That would kill your Saturday nights.
