The Ravens were gifted 3 points on a missed field goal

That shit didn’t split the uprights.

It was certainly questionable. I don’t know the exact rule but when I saw it live I did not think it was good. Glad it didn’t come back to bite us

maybe the refs confused the goalposts with the goalline and it ‘broke the plane’
Hell I got confused in chat between the kickoff rules when it was actually a punt

Ravens had 3 penalties for 10 yards… The refs called a baaaaad game IMO and tried to keep the Ravens in it. Lions had to overcome some shitty calls

If only there was some sort of virtual measurement technology they could adapt to help officiate situations like this?

I wonder if they will come up with a way for this to be reviewable. I can’t remember it happening in another lions game but to the naked eye, I felt that kick was no good based on the description of the rule they read during broadcast.

I agree. I was going to keep my mouth shut about it if we lost but man it felt like the Lions were getting pinched big time by the zebras last night.

That’s exactly what I was thinking in the moment.
On further reflection, there is some fine point where AI would have to account for the exact position of the tumbling prolate spheroid and its spin around its axis as it encountered the theoretical goal post extention to calculate whether it would bounce in or out.

Or AI could just ask Roger Goodell what result he wanted.

The lateral that was called a backwards pass, the Branch “personal foul” and the FG that shouldn’t have been were three huge calls that makes you wonder if Goodell had a mandate. There are missed calls every game but those three were pretty blatant, the former two in particular and I’m never one to complain about officiating and how does a team in an ultra physical game only have 10 yards of penalties? Come on

I thought it might have missed, but that 2-d still shot tells us nothing. We have no idea where that ball is.

I honestly think this is one of the easiest plays for the ref to officiate, while simultaneously being the most difficult for us to see if they’re right or wrong. He’s literally standing in the one spot where you can really tell whether it’s good or not. But I suspect their look at it is much better than our naked-eye-through-the-TV look. It has to be.

Or you can make posts taller I think we have the technology.

In general the NFL’s slow rolling obvious technological officiating fixes despite what is now a close relationship with two of the greatest technology companies in the history of mankind is pretty disappointing.

Fanduel and Draftkings?

At this point, I would think you could build in some sort of a laser shooting out of the tops of each post, and just turn it on during kicks. That way, you don’t have goofy looking elongated posts blocking the view of 2nd deckers during the game, but a more clear view of where the ball crosses on field goals and extra points.

I just don’t think the ref is gonna miss this call. They stand directly beneath the right edge of the goalpost, if they see any part of the ball, it’s no good. Maybe the light could get in their eyes in a funny way at night, but I’m sure that’s been sorted by now, given how many night games have been played at these stadiums.

Such is life.

Snippet here, snippet there and voila, all you need to know.

The helmet to helmet on Goff as well… If Mahomes gets sneezed on anywhere near his head, it’s a call

The personal foul called on Branch was horseshit too.

Did they say you couldn’t review the FG
