This board is acting ridiculous

A lot of you go from praising Campbell to wanting to fire him depending on the ebb and flow of the game. Facts are we likely don’t even have the lead for most of the game if it wasn’t for Campbell decision making. Does he need to be better at end of games. Without a doubt. Is a meathead? I would say to look in the mirror if that’s what you think.

People were acting like that last 4th down call was an easy decision. A made FG essentially ends the game. If would take a 75 yard drive with under a minute and no timeouts to win. A Punt only gains you a net of 17 yards if it’s a touchback. If he would have went for it and didn’t get it he would’ve been killed for not kicking the FG or punting.

I would’ve went for it 100%. Campbell obviously said he regrets not going for it. It was a bad decision.

All I’ve said is i want him to learn from it. If you’re going to be aggressive, stay aggressive. He coached terribly in the 4th. As long as he learns from it, I’m good

Not seeing alot of ppl calling for his job…but if he keeps coaching in game like this at crucial times the rest of the season, he should be on the hot seat at that point.

He’s not going to learn from it. It’s his 31st game as an NFL Head Coach. He is who he is. A great motivator and leader, but not a good football coach in terms of game management. He isn’t going to wake up tomorrow and go 'Oh, I get it now!"

My bigger gripe was then the FG was a lack of aggression in the 4th. I hate when teams take their foot off the gas with the lead. I’d rather go down swinging.

I’m only seeing like 4 ppl on this entire board acknowledging that his play calling got us in position with a severely injured team to win the game in the first place.

Then seal it and win the game when the chips are down…they had it. Normal coaching decisions win this game 100%.

A made FG requires them to go twenty more yards in the same amount of time.

The FG was obviously the wrong call. Tell Goff to throw it. He was better than 60% on the day. Basically any completion at all wins the game.

Normal coaching decisions? His fourth down conversions in the 1st half led directly to both our TDs. Another 4th down conversion led to a 3rd quarter FG. On two of those drives they weren’t in FG range when they went for it and would have punted. On the other it would have been a 47 yard attempt. That is literally a 14 point different IF they made the FG. Yet normal coaching decisions would’ve won….

The different is they would need a TD. Completely changes the way you play defense. You play the sidelines and deep, let the 10-15 yard completions go. The win probability if we make that FG is probably 90%.

If we have Prater or Hanson I would kick it 100%. Difference is we have Seibert.

I’ve seen no one call for his job.

Yes, 4th quarter, up by 10 points, normal coaching decisions. I’m not talking about the meat of the game, I’m talking about when it’s time to seal the deal and just make the normal football decisions to win in that situation…Dan shat his pants in a vintage sol fashion…and guess what? HE EVEN SAID SO HIMSLEF AFTER THE GAME.

Maybe nobody said fire him but there were many here saying he is a meathead and will never make it as HC. Many said we will be rebuilding again in a couple years. So maybe it wasn’t fire him now, but rather we will fire him later.

Again with the “normal decisions”? That’s not really applicable.

If Dan thinks the conversion is unlikely to succeed but Siebert is likely to make it then the field goal os the right decision. If he thinks neither are likely to succeed then you punt… If he thinks we’re likely to convert then you go for it. It was a tough and nuanced decision.

This kind of seems like you’re implying he should lose his job:

It’s the type of game that would cost coaches their job. But Dan gets free reign.

Okay but how does that make him a meathead? He’s a genius when it works but a meathead when it doesn’t. He definitely needs To be better in the 4th. No doubt. He made some crucial mistakes today. No doubt. He is still the right man for the job and will be the best coach in our history, IMO.

My issue isn’t with people being critical. My issue is with people acting ignorant. I love this board, but I usually stay away during games because of the massive mood swings.

You are pretending the first 3 quarters that we won being aggressive dont count so you can win a point you are trying to make.

Dan needs to hire an analytics guys to tell him what the historical data says gives him the best chance to win rather than playing his gut hunch. His emotion is what makes him a good coach but emotion is not a good way to make these decisions. Take the emotion out and play the odds. His emotion told him to play chickensh*t ball at the end and it was wrong.

Yes if we had different players the calculations would be different. But we have who we have, so the actual choice was asking Goff, who had a very good game, to complete one short pass, versus asking a mediocre kicker to set a personal best and counting on a lousy defense to keep them out of the end zone in a two minute drill.

This wasn’t even remotely a close call. If Goff had been 12 for 31 with 2 INT, maybe. But he was good today. Put the game in his hands.

I’m pretty sure he said in some press conference that he does have that and it seemed like he played the odds all day until the last kick attempt.
