Of course Jamar Chase would be great but I don’t see us using a 1st round pick on a WR.
I don’t think I’d be looking for a #1 WR but rather complimentary WR’s to go with Golladay or Allen Robinson or whoever our #1 is for the next couple of years. Throw me some guys that have the juice.
How about guys like Marquez Stevenson from Houston.
Smith-Marsette at IOWA, Rashod Bateman at Minnesota, Chris Olave at Ohio State, Seth Williams at Auburn, Tylan Wallace at Oklahoma State, Warren Jackson at Colorado State, GREAT year for WR’s. It’s my hope they wait until AT LEAST the 3rd round and there will some good one’s left in the 5th.
At least the 3rd round? We don’t have anybody under contract… and to be honest with how the league is going, it will be a lot faster to get more wins by making the offense top 10 by adding a weapon or 2 than getting the defense good with a lot more resources
Just because a position is deep doesn’t mean you wait to take the last couple available. You don’t pass on an AJ Brown just because you can get an andy Isabella 2 rounds later
Oh sorry… Riley Ridley then. My point is that a deep class doesn’t mean you should wait on a pick. This can lead to passing on a blue chip talent and then later… getting like a serviceable player in the 4th round. Another example… you don’t pass on julio jones because a round and a half later you can take randall cobb instead.
Well, Golladay did miss most of the season. They were 3-1 (I believe) in the games he played and he was tracking to have a big year.
I think it would be dumb to take a receiver with a top 10 pick unless you think you’re getting a Hall of Fame caliber guy. They need to address the defense through the draft because they don’t have the cap flexibility to do it through free agency.
Wide Receivers the Lions have under contract for next year are Quintez Cephus and Geronimo Allison (forgot about him, didn’t you?).
Given the expected salary cap shrinkage, the Lions holes all over the field at other positions, and the teams few draft picks, I would expect there to be some very real offseason movement in the way of acquiring more draft capital, trades, and most realistically watching the practice squad and futures contracts at the end of the year.
