St. Louis received minor league pitcher Jack Martinez in the deal. The Cardinals are also sending $31 million US to the D-backs to offset the $42 million Arenado is owed over the next two seasons.

Very little risk for the D backs

I want Luis Arraez in a Tigers uniform. He has no market whatsoever. Bring him in on one of these prove it deals and let’s see if he can fix our hitting problem.

I do think with the lockout, it really has affected FA this year

Everyone knows its coming, but its hard for Players and Teams to find middle grounds

why some players are looking for like 1 year deals, but with more money in it for example

very weird situation

"Progress report: I’m not sure I get the passive Tigers. Clearly, it’s a team on the rise. Detroit is coming off a second straight playoff run. The pitching outlook is excellent, but not perfect. Set aside the annoyance that Tarik Skubal is headed for an arbitration hearing; the rotation looks well-situated in terms of volume and run prevention. The bullpen depth chart lacks the kind of strikeout rates that you like to see from a dominant group, but after the past couple of years, you have to give the Tigers the benefit of the doubt with that crew.

The offense could use a splash or two. Sure, Detroit has some high-level position prospects creeping up on the majors and you don’t want to block those opportunities, but there is plenty of space for a middle-of-the-lineup anchor. That’s true of both the depth chart and the payroll. Bellinger or Tucker would be the best fit, but Detroit could use any of the top available hitters.

The time is now, folks."

How foolish. Clearly the time is in five to seven years from now. These people don’t know what they’re talking about.

It is confusing… until you realize the Lockout is coming. Prolly holding pat, teams and players are likely thinking it might last a long while.

Even then, they could try to push for an all in this year if they desired, but they are really full of good their farm system

Maybe it is a Lions situation where they need to miss the playoffs to actually make changes/moves

Have not kept up with this post. Did a search on Skubal and did not see much. Is there anything concrete at all??? Did we really put an arb number of only $19million up, while Boras’s # was $32M. I mean, $19M would be a phuck you insult, no? I’m hoping I simply don’t understand the process.

Do you mean: ā€œwe’re goodā€!? Oh no, its infectious!

I can see the Lions season is going to make the Tiger season/threads even better than last year… great, looking forward to it…

I agree on Arraez think he could come in here and help out the hitting and wouldnt really break the bank

The best part is the few that already know that the Tigers season is going to end in disappointment, but will still feel it necessary to remind us daily in the threads, regardless of what the scoreboard says.

I plan on putting several posters on ignore once the season starts. At the end of the day it should feel much more like the first year we had the Tigers board where all the guys posting actually like the Tigers.

I love the tigers, but I could see the direction they were heading into. Just like direction the lions took after the 1st Minnesota game

In 2025, Skubal earned $10.15 million.

The declined $19.8 million offer from the Tigers for 2026 would’ve allowed Skubal to set two arbitration records – becoming the highest-paid arbitration-eligible pitcher, surpassing left-hander David Price’s $19.75 million salary in 2015, and securing the largest raise for an arbitration-eligible pitcher, surpassing right-hander Jacob deGrom’s $9.6 million increase in 2019.

Where does he play though? He can only play 1st and 2nd base and he sucks at both positions defensively. Tigers already have Tork and Torrez.

I guess you could DH him but a singles hitter at DH is not ideal. He also only had a 99 OPS+ last year which is an average bat.
