This doesn’t paint a pretty picture for Tork.
We should make him put on 60 pounds, and ship his ass to Toronto.
Some of those stats in there for Tork are just fine. .285 BABIP for a power hitter is fine. 8.7% walk rate is above average.
He just made too may outs and not enough damage when he did hit it.
Beyond about a 200-250 PA hot run last year, he has been tbh terrible.
He will have 25 to show what he is, and be cheap, but by 26 there will be options in the minors ready or nearly so…or Carpenter will be moved there.
They should stay the course IMO. Nothing too crazy in FA. Keep the payroll manageable until the pipeline gets acclimated to the league. Then they can target expensive finishing touches.
Why. You can still build and get talent at the same time. Greene, keith, sweeney, Meadows. Now throw-in a vet or two.
I think that would piss off even the most patient Tigers fans.
Not mention moving Keith there as another option as Jung may be a better 2nd basemand than 3rd. Well, I don’t think there is a whole of " may be" in that discussion.
You aren’t wrong.
I just don’t think, in Detroit marketwise, you will fill every position via trade or FA.
Those three can rotate between DH/RF and in Vierling’s case occasional 3rd/1st.
I know it will cost a ton but Rooker is what this team needs. I know moving cites might not happen, but perfect for this lineup
With regards to OF keep in mind you also have Clark coming to Detroit in 2026 is my guess. Next year he is in AA and AAA.
So then you have an OF of Greene, Meadows and Clark all of whom will be abov avg hitters or at least avg hitters with very good defense. So I think, for now, you leave the OF alone with what is on the roster.
Also a darkhorse wildcard minor leaguer is Gage Workman. Probably a better 3rd baseman than ss longterm. When he stop switch hitting he took off in AA this season. You have to think he starts at AAA next season as they will want him to get consistant abs vs coming off the bench.
Can’t argue with him.
177 K’s this season
172 last season
In the age of analytics that may not matter with his other numbers.
I just don’t think Oakland will trade him, he has two more years of arbitration and will remain cheap. With their situation trading Rooker would be foolish as they move to temp stadium
Yep.
Three of the top 5 spenders are still in the playoffs. Cleveland is the exception.
We spend about a third of the Yankees and Mets. We’re young, but so is Cleveland (26.0 vs. 26.3 average age).
Cleveland is a problem.
Comerica is a doubles/triples park. We need a solid barrel guy at least. One that can play 1B.
Not a fan of Tork, although I hear Weas. He does show flashes, but we better prepare for alternatves.
MLB free agency overwhelmingly sucks at the top tier. If you can get Ohtani, cool. But down a rung or two you better be careful not to end up with a guaranteed Correa contract.
I miss the Tigers. Call me bitter but I’m rooting for the Yankees. Hockey was once my favorite sport and I can’t even watch it anymore. I just find it kind of boring now.
Man, I miss watching them too. What a great year to be a fan.
I think about it more
If we aint going for Soto
Willy Adames(Big Bat Addition and it allows Sweeney to be off the bench/Baez to sip Mai Tai’s on a beach somewhere)
Shane Bieber(Had #1 pitching stuff but has had a few injuries)
Matt Boyd(He can be a mid/end of rotation player or even Long Relief)
AJ Minter(Nice 1/2 year deal to be more relief help in the pen)
