I’ve posted this 10 times. Any player we landed at the deadline wasn’t changing this.
Our 4-5 starters, mid relief, closer, and 2-3 hitting slots have been weak since just after the all star break.
This team either accidentally comes back, wins the Cleveland series and sneaks in… or they drop 5 more and miss by 3 games?
Gutting the farm system for a decent bat wasn’t changed my this-the pitching is a large part of the issue. Riley had been cold.

I put some of this on Hinch also, he let all that first half success and media attention get to the heads on this team. They sleep walked thru the 2nd half thinking no problem

The trade wasn’t for Bednar the trade was for either Eugenio Suarez or Merrill Kelly involving Liranzo. Arizona needed a catching prospect that was going to get to the big spy 27 maybe late 26th as well it was really the perfect setup. Probably would have taken an arm like ham along with them or another bat a little further down in the system but those are things they have.
I was just telling my brother I don’t fault Harris for thinking we were going to make the playoffs and the improving around the edges, what I thought for is not having a sense of urgency for going for old Series win because you just don’t get that many opportunities and that’s what he should have been focused on and not his long-term plan. You can execute a long-term plan with a short-term tweak and he refused to do that

I remember when Harris told us that splashy moves at the deadline were stupid.
Suarez is raking for Seattle and Harris’ acquisitions have, for the most part, sucked copious amounts of ass.
He absolutely deserves and has earned every bit of this ■■■■■■■ collapse.
