It’s shitty players coming back down to earth at the worst time, but overperforming teams with talent deficiencies ARE THE TEAMS you should supplement with actual GOOD talent through FA and trades.
Instead, we signed Alex Cobb and traded for Charlie Morton.

Morton as an inning eater for free isn’t a bad deal. Same with Paddack. Olson just went down at the time, so load up.
Paddack they knew was just gonna be a stopgap, but Morton had playoff experience and Im sure they thought he would be their 4 in the playoffs. From late May to the deadline he had 17 appearances, 12 favorable 4 bad and one neutral. 3 of his first 4 starts for us were 6 innings each and a total of 6 runs.
But when he is off, he puts you out of the game early and deeply. And he has lost
