Tigers vs Cubs: July 20-22

There goes Hinch with his metrics BS. Pinch hits Vierling for Torres. Results were predictable.

He had pinch run earlier. Torres was already out of the game

Thanks for the clarification.

Big win. That error on the double play ball in the 10th cost the Cubs massively.

Jansen earned his first win as a Tiger.

I am sick and ■■■■■■■ tired of the Tigers NEVER having a good bullpen and/or closer.

Team can be good but idk if their good enough to win it all. Sp has been a bright side. Bp is a mess. If their buyers thats what they will fix

The Tigers have the 8th best bullpen in MLB by ERA, 10th by WHIP.

Meanwhile hitting is bottom 5

Its not the bullpen.

And my point on the standings. Cool tigers won.

So did everyone else in front of them. They arnt gaining any ground. They havent.

They didnt gain any ground in the division when Cleveland and Chicago were down their top players. so now those top players are coming back. You think NOW they are gonna make up games?

The bullpen isn’t even close to being good enough. It’s going to need a lot of work at the deadline…again…if we want to win in October.

Bullpen guys are so low value that every good team needs them every year.

Nah, let’s wait to fire Scahht until after he doesnt trade Skoobs because he “doesnt want to live in regret as to missing out on a world series if he traded him”, and then the Tigers dont even make the playoffs anyway by season’s end.

Glad I benched Finnegan yesterday, my ERA would be even worse than it is now…I want noting to do with any Tigers BP arms on my roster, anybody want him?

As for today’s game…David Peterson ■■■■■■■ blows. We should hang ten runs on him.

Hmm, dont the Tigers have like 3-4 BP arms that have each blown 3-4 saves already this season? And doesnt the Tigers offense actually have a higher run differential that alot of teams in front of them, which would have this team close to .500 if it werent for all those BP meltdowns? I’m not saying the offense is great…but league rankings dont tell the whole story.

Didnt the Angels pitcher Sunday have like a 7 ERA and the offense shat themselves anyway? Maybe it just seems like the worse the opposing pitcher is, the worse theTigers offense is this season, but it does seem that way

Well the Tigers BP is the worst in MBL in save %
19 saves out of 40 SVO’s, that is .475, below 50%!!!

Edit: Sorry Angels are the worst at .400 Save %, Tigers are 2nd worse
So go ahead and believe the ERA /WHIP crap if you want

If the tigers scored 3 runs all year they would have 15 more wins.

You can point to individual games were the bullpen might have blown the game.

But again. You arnt winning games 2-1!!! Mlb average is 3.5 runs. If you cant score 3-4 runs in a game. I dont want to hear about pitching.

Tigers

Starting Pitching: ERA 3.45 (3rd) WHIP 1.14 (4th)

Bullpen: ERA 3.81 (8th) whip 1.30 (10th)

Batting:

Avg 0.235 (25th)

OPS 0.713 (19th)

OBP 0.313 (21st)

H/G 7.83 (26th)

R/G 4.23 (21st)

How the hell can any of you look at those stats and say we need more useless bullpen at the deadline and not bats?

Or how bout DEFENSE?

BABIP 0.291 (22nd)

TDRS -6 (23rd)

Imo this team needs more bats and BP help if they really want to make a run. I was just pointing out the painful blown saves this BP has given up (as pointed out by the post listing them as having the 2nd most blown saves in the AL) that hurt this team’s standings just as much as the bats have…none of it is good enough.

Save percentage in a vacuums is a horrible stat.

When the offense only scores 1 run in the last half of the game. The pitchers are naturally gonna have a lower save %.

So again. In a vacuum its horrible, look at the games where the blew those saves? How many runs did the offense score? Im willing to bet its under 3 for 9/10 of those

Thats like blaming an NFL teams defense for losing a game 10 to 7. Because they had a 7 to 3 lead in the 4th.

Didn’t you just say league average was 3.5 R/G???
