Tigers vs Orioles: July 27-29

Pretty decent hitter but he is really bad defensively. Limited range, noodle for an arm. Probably best at DH or 1st base in the future, likely on a different team.

Remind me again how many batters tigers have that can hit Lefties Regularly?

Anderson and Briceno are the only one in the pipeline that are expected to be called up before the end of the decade

Hes off the table.

And cool. Trade away Torres for what? A few prospects and let Skubal walk for a comp pick? Thats the plan? Why?

Getting rid of Torres means the horrible hitting lineup is even worse.

What about Rainer? His current ETA is ā€˜28.

I never stated that Gleyber should be on the trade block. I stated that he is not part of our Infield forecasting. And whatever they decide to do with Skubal has nothing to do with Infield forecasting for the future. Not sure why you’re bringing him up in this conversation about Anderson.

So I’ll ask you as well. Where do you see Anderson fitting in as one of our future Infielders?

Tork

Briceno

Keith

Lee

Anderson

McGonigle

Rainer

Where do they all fit in with your future vision?

No, he isn’t off the table.

I said THAT CAN HIT LEFTIES!

Anderson has the highest OPS vs LHP of all the prospects. You know the one thing the tigers are absolutely TRASH at?

And 2028 lineup.

C: Dingler

1B: Torq

2B: Anderson

SS: Mcgongile

3B: H. Lee

LF: Green

CF: Clark

RF: Carp

DH: Briceno

Bench: Keith, McKinstry, Vierling, Meadows

Ranier still in toledo, called up if theres injuries.

And vs LHP, the only ones even on that list that are decent: lee, Torq, Anderson and Briceno, maybe dingler. Everyone else struggles more vs LHP.

Obviously not all the prospects are going to hit. But Anderson is the best shot to add a good bat that can hit lefties, Briceno is good to but he only plays Catcher, 1B and DH. And Torq, Dingler and Keith are locked up.

I wonder if we could trade Torres for a RP give Lee the 2b position

It improved the BP and gets us something for someone who is on a expiring

Torres for 2 RP prospects (soon up) or active with lots of team control.

I certainly can’t argue that forecast. The Rainer forecast is definitely a cog that could change it all up. If he develops as hoped I think the expectation is he is up in ā€˜28. And if he is, that shifts everything and that shift in my mind makes Anderson the odd man out.

This is true. However Anderson is due up like NOW. And Bryce is EXPECTED to be up in 28. However Tigers seem to always be cautious. So I definitely see him being in Toledo to start the year then get called up due to injury

One of them will be a trade chip in the future for sure. But can always let McKinstry walk. Use all of them for platoons/ pinch hitting. The good way to maximize runs, vs having to do it out of necessity because we have players with a 500 OPS vs Lefties

Tork isn’t locked up by any means, still in arbitration years.

Keith signed a longer deal buying out arbitration years but not anything stupid AAV.
Dingler isn’t yet but will be soon, just need to wait for the new CBA to be done to see what is added.

Trading Torres isn’t a horrible idea, but he does take a lot of pitches and makes opposing SP work more than most of the guys in the lineup.

Anderson’s struggle against 94+ speed pitches apparently is a real thing and jumping from AAA to MLB is a significant jump where every pitcher has that ability.

Then add in better control by MLB pitchers at those velocities and I understand it. Yet, still wish he had gotten the call up.

I think Anderson is somewhat limited in the field vs Lee which gave Lee the edge as he can play better defense than Anderson.

Torres to the Phillies for Alex McFarlane(#19 phillies prospect)- 25 year old prospect who is ready to call up to the majors

I think that would be a good trade for both

My point is that I think Anderson is better than Lee at 2b. AAA statistics prove that. But we’ll never know if that translates to the majors because the Tigers seem intent on not giving Anderson a shot. I get that their hands were tied with Lee because of Rule 5 rules but my opinion is that Anderson continues to rake and the Tigers look the other way.

If you think Lee is better than Anderson that’s your opinion.

I want this Lagrange guy for Skubal.

Fastball that tops out at 103 is elite closer stuff.

I’m probably the lone voice on this but i think the Tigers could still have a shot at the playoffs without Skubal. No Skubal and Mize and I don’t see it.

I’m in no hurry to fire sale every player that is a FA after this year unless you are totally throwing in the towel on the 26 season. Then, sure.

Again the high end prospects never get a shot till they are ā€œabsolutely readyā€ Valencia called up not Clark. Cool

Hinch is going to Hinch. We barely lost to Seattle in the playoffs last year. We would have had a better team with McGonigle.

yep. 100% agree.
I also wouldn’t mind if we dangled Flaherty out there. I guess Valdez is untradeable though.

If you look at '24, we got rid of alot of older players, Canha, Urshela, Flaherty etc. and gave more playing time to youngsters like Wenceel, Malloy, Madris, etc. and pitching chaos. It was alot of fun, the kids didn’t know that they were supposed to lose. We could do the same this year with Flaherty, Torres etc.

There’s definitely still a lot to be worked out with our future infield positions and players. As I stated in a different post there are probably 10 different combinations that could end up being our 2028 and beyond infield, and Anderson could certainly be a part of that.

But because of the stacking of options that we have for all 4 infield positions going forward I certainly wouldn’t say Anderson is ā€œoff the tableā€ to be part of a trade package. Which is what started this whole conversation. My feelings are that of the prospects that may be available for a trade package Anderson would be near the top of that list, and we’d still project just fine for a pretty talented group of infielders in the coming years.

You mean when the offense wasnt as streaky.

The offense has gotten worse and worse and worse since 2024 when everyone was hitting way above their career average

With this Blowpen and this pathetic offense. Aint no way they do anything significant in the post season. if they made it. Skubal or not.

50/50 chance getting past wild card.

0% chance making out of the 2nd round
