The Harvard Trade Value Chart
A big part of the draft are trades. But when trading picks, teams have to find a way to put a value to those picks. To do this, teams use trade value charts. The most widely known of these charts...

Thank you JJ
We had 3 2nd round picks that year and took Gerald Alexander, Drew Stanton, and Alma Francois. Even when Millen pulled off a good move he still ā ā ā ā ā ā up a wet dream.

lol 3 studs right there.
I donāt think Roy was a bust. Got decent early production and then a 1 and a 3 for him
Iāll never understand people calling Roy Williams a bust when Mike Williams, Charles Rogers, and Titus Young were all drafted by this organization.
Roy W, as a Lion is 9th all time in TD receptions, 20tj in receiving yardage,15th in receptions, and averaged 14.8 ypr. He was a Pro Bowler in 2006.
Not a bust.

oooofffffff. Mercy, sometimes I forget how awful the Lions drafting was in the past. I know it was pitifully badā¦but when you lay it like that. Wow.
You put Barry on the 2014 thru 2017 teams, they win multiple playoff games.
I just had a beautiful dream about that visionā¦ā¦
he was still probably in good enough shape to do it
I wonder if the Lions would consider trading back at a steep discount. I donāt believe anybody would trade up to #2 paying the full Jimmy Johnson trade chart price. For example, if NYG wanted to trade up from 5 to 2, they would need to give us 900 points. Pick 36 is worth 540, pick 67 is worth 255, pick 112 in the 4th round is worth 70. That would get them close to making up the cost of going from 5 to 2. But who says we have to get a āfull priceā offer to move back? If there are 6 guys that you like and the Giants offered just a 3rd round pick, I would be happy to move back and add a 3rd round pick! Not to mention then we are paying that player less $ at 5 than we would have to at 2. I just hope they are open to trading back at a steep discount just to add more picks because we have so many holes that it would be a good move in my opinion.

That is a really good point, I know some others have brought it up as well (in one of the 436 draft threads, sorry I canāt think of names).
I think it all comes down to the advanced ācalculusā of the draft. If we have 5 guys (who we all have rated similarly in terms of talent/need/etc), why not trade down for a bag of chips? I think the top picks generally have more value due to the perception of a very few āeliteā players (or QBs with potential) in each draft.
I am not a draft guy, expert, scout, etc. I generally read (but donāt post) in the debates about player X vs. Y because I donāt know enough about analysis. But, if Holmes really feels they are equal (from say 2 to 5, as you mentioned), why not? Just get the best deal you can from whoever, then pull the trigger.
It goes back to negotiation theoryā¦ is the offer presented better than your expected result without the offer? If so, go ahead and take it.
Of course, there is a separate line of thinking about future value of draft picks/trades to consider, but that is getting too heady for me to wrap into the discussion at the momentā¦

I hope so. I personally would do that for just pick 36 because, for us, in this years draft, itās likely that we would choose the exact same player at #5 that we would at #2. Thatās a win-win.
Iād do it, if the staff feels that the talent levels are about equal.
The JJ trade chart is known to over-value the very highest picks. But its still used sometimes because some teams trading up are desperate to get their guy.
In a year where there is no āguyā weād HAVE to accept less than the JJ trade chart.
ps - I sometimes wonder if this is why Quinn said he had āno offersā for the #3 pick and Okudah. Yes, dipshit, no serious offers when you hold up the JJ trade chart, and everyone else is working from one of the others.

We may all be looking downā¦but the Lions may be looking up.
I believe Dane Brugler is fairly respected and is not just throwing this out there.
Itās difficult sifting through all the rumors searching for a nugget of truth this time of year. A move up to #1 would shock meā¦

I would not be surprised if between Hutch and Thibs that DC has a giant hard-on for Hutch. He just seems like a DC guy. Nowā¦does it make sense to move up to get him? Ehhhhh, I dunno about that.
Of all the years to move up to #1 this year seems one of the most undesirable.
I donāt think it will happen but if it does thats a horrible choice.
