Houston has been planning to move Alvarez to first base for a while now. He played it in the minors but for whatever reason they never pulled the trigger on it with the big club.
Alvarez primary at DH and plays first when we need Dingler to DH. The math checks out.
It would also keep Torkleson on the bench more often unless we trade him too. His value is low right now but we might be able to pull a good bully arm for him.
From about 1950-2022 my wife coached at a HS that used a city field for softball.

Teach Dingler to play first base when he’s not catching. Work on it this offseason. His bat is good and we want it in the lineup.

That’s a fine idea too. Lots of catchers play first base as a secondary position. Dingler is so athletic for a catcher that you have to assume he would do well at 1st base.

I LOVE that guy, but I ain’t giving up Clark Anderson Keith Montero and Malachi, even with an extension. Guys like that you sign in FA. Schwarber/Alonso etc.
